And they say they are fighting corruption? They trust Buhari to run an honest government? On what basis? Exactly what is the Minister of Information travelling to China for? How do they justify a 'loan' from a commission?

I was asking a typical APC dolt today what system is in place to ensure fair and accountable governance but his only assertion was Buhari could be trusted! Does he run all ministries and sectors? The mad hatter actually justified removal of subsidy now as perfectly alright because Buhari is in charge bit it wasn't okay in 2012.

When will we get it right?

He claimed that the trip was too expensive, and so he has decided to skip it. He claimed the trip would be so helpful and educational. If this is true, I say a big shame on Lai Mohammed. This kind of nonsense cannot be condoned in a government that was voted in to crack down on corruption. I hope the president will take a very tough decision on the information minister so as to send a strong message to other political appointees that it is no longer business as usual.

Seun, I don't think anything is wrong with that letter. We all know that the budget has just been signed, so no allocation yet.
We can only start to crucify him if he fails to refund it after he gets his allocation as promised. The urgency of the trip might have propelled him to approach NBC, which is still an agency within his ministry.

Actually, it is very wrong for a ministry to request for a loan from an agency under its supervision. It breeds corruption and can also affect the ability of the supervising ministry to effectively supervise the agency.

Again, the request is against federal governments Financial Regulations 417. The N13million the ministry intends to borrow is meant for a particular vote in NBC's budget. Loaning it out or applying it for any other purpose other that what it was voted for is illegal and a breach of extant regulation. As an auditor, I will definitely query this transaction if I come across it.

I hold no brief for Lai though. We all know NBC generate lots of money from fines/penalties /registration. You think any financial institution can grant such loan request within 1 or 2 workin days?
