Hmm why can't NLC embark on a nation wide strike just as they did during Jonathan's regime? |

If government is serious about completely removing fuel subsidy, they have to introduce a flexible exchange rate regime. Asking petrol importers to source their forex needs from the parallel market will only widen the gap between the official rate and the parallel market rate. Government must look for a way to bring down the parallel market rate if they truly want to sustain the pump price at a maximum of N145/litre. |

If this political imbroglio continues till 2017, I can bet it that Buhari may be sacrificed for his gross ineptitude in power, insensitiveness of his government to the plight of the masses. Indeed, he waited too long to allow this logjam.....he definitely lacks the political will to handle 21st Century economical problems. From the look of things, Buhari is still test running, this to me is MADNESS. |

Benikuuse:That is not the point we are discussing here. But...if NLC went on strike...they would probably be told that oil prices have dropped...meaning limited revenue...meaning that wage increases are not possible. |

Interesting article....and this means that imports would be made without there being pressure on the Government's dollars. Modified: However, it was uncertain if the PPPRA template, which pegged the forex rate at N298 to the dollar, was expected to make much of a difference, as the naira plummeted significantly to N341 yesterday, from N323 to the dollar the day before. Some points to ponder there....especially the bit about there not being enough dollars in the parallel market. But then again....government does not have enough forex....so getting from the parallel market is the best of two bad alternatives. |

Quakertellicus1:Even though we say this, the upper echelons of government are still one of the highest paid in the world and their numbers and retinues are large. The man on the street is being forced to pay for his stvpidity in keeping quiet through all the decades of waste and theft whilst the people who enshrined this behaviour are going scot-free. In a country with a largely honest citizenship, there would have been a revolution by now. But the average Nigerian knows in himself that if he were in government, he'd do worse than those present. |

If u remove subsidy and still regulate price, it won't work. Fuel might sell for more than #145 if u really want more people to go into the importation. What happens to an ordinary Aba man with no link to a secondary source order than getting it at the black market at #341 to a dollar,? |
