Most people erroneousl think an average Hausa/fulani man is not informed politically. Well, opposite is the case, an average hausa/fulani man is well informed than most educated people politically. You will observe that a mallam in his shop or farm is always with a transistor radio, and on the radio he is listening to the current happening in nigeria and beyond in his native language and not english. The same way you listen to news analysis in english is the same way he listens to such in hausa. There is BBC hausa service but i doubt if there is igbo, yoruba, tiv, ijaw etc services on BBC. Hence under rate an average hausa/fulani man politically at your peril.

places like bauchi have not been buying fuel for 87 naira so why are people surprised with their stance? Its only Lagos and may be abuja that buys fuel at official price after queuing for hours.
Re: Protest In Bauchi In Support Of Fuel Subsidy Removal by Chukzyfcb(m): 2:00pm On May 17, 2016
How can protest & support be in the same sentence? The word Protest is used to show a disapproval of an opinion, subject or topic. If you say they showed support for the subsidy removal, saying they protested is crazy. #i stand to be corrected tho.

We seem to be forgetting something....and that has to do with the facr that dis pple have probably have been buying this products for the same price they are currently buy it nw. So pple calling dis guys zombie are the bigger zombies. I live in Delta state but have severally bought fuel above 87 naira in some remote areas even when fuel was overly abundant.

that's hypocrisy at its peak, no mind dem, foolish illiterates demonstrating foolishness. Most honest Nigerians really wanted this move, but the hypocrisy and sentiments attached to this by some few sects is what is annoying me sha, jonathan meant well when he tried to kick out that subsidy thing , but envy no gree them then.

These people are protesting in favor of deregulation not because they know the economic advantage of deregulation of PMS but, because it is Buhari . Assuming it's a southern president, they would be be protesting in opposition to pump price hike. That said, I am a southerner, a critic of buhari administration, support deregulation because that's the best way to go. I also advise that naira be completely floated to boost economic development. If he had floated naira earlier, we might have avoided some of the mess the country is in at the moment.

These are truly zombies, northern Nigeria has a long way to go.

This is the best opportunity ever for government to do away with subsidy. If you have the entire north and the south west on your side, you can achieve almost anything you want in Nigeria.
I take God beg you, remove South West from that your propaganda list o. We're not in support of any yeye subsidy removal that will further impoverish the masses. undecided undecided

The cost of transportation has doubled, cost of food stuff has increased, cost of living has sky-rocketed. Yet, our salaries remain in its crawling state. I use Sango beg you, we in the South West ain't 'Abobaku' we'll support Buhari if he's doing the right thing, and oppose him when he's doing the wrong thing. Period!

@mesoprogress , May the Lord bless and keep you, May the truth never kill you.indeed the north has a long way to go, even if they occupy Aso rock for the next 100 years, their ideology, beliefs , norms, values will never change. Their northern mentality is terrible, no development even in 100years time, I feel so so sorry for the northern Christians

Caleboha:
Somebody told them the planned strike/ protest was against Buhari; against the north; against Islam. They were convinced that this is a plan by southern christians to retaliate; Occupy Nigeria under Buhari. As usual, the voice of bigotry is loud and irresistible. They have ignored their hungry stomachs, unpayed and unimproved salaries, worsening economic situation . They are standing with the serpent that torments them! I am thoroughly convinced the NLC needs to show some balls, now or never. Not necessarily against subsidy removal, but for better welfare, immediate payment of all outstanding salaries and benefits. We would not forget how Bauchi state killed 44 corpers in 2011. Now they have started again
Can't you silly Christian folks drive in your points without bringing in Islam?

I have no problem with your post except your assertion that majority do not understand what they are protesting for.
You'd be surprised how well informed some of these ppl are through the power of radio: BBC, VOA, Radio Germany etc Hausa programs; where social and political issues are discussed and analysed extensively (with invited special guest speakers) to the enlightenment of the listener - I am sorry you presumed wrongly.

However, what you did not appreciate is that most ppl are tired of queuing and already used to paying for more at the black market; so anything to return the flow of the product through the fuel pumps is a welcomed development - they are not as ignorant as you think.

Lastly, Buhari still has a great deal of popularity because even though painful ppl see and believe in what he is doing - I know this may be hard and too bitter for the wailers to swallow.

Ignorance is a disease........Am sure this ppl know why they are supporting PMB on Subsidy Removal...Now u as an Educated person why not sit down and analyse d issue from this perspective...... If GEJ tried removing subsidy and it failed, Why will PMB do thesame and we can't support him. For there to be a good change...we the ppl of this country shud be ready to make sacrifice... No success story without a sacrifice. And for the NLC have asked ourselves why they truly want to go on strike.....Fellow Nigerians, There's more to this issue than we think......as for my opinion, I support subsidy removal all those fund should be re invested in other sector......pls if u want to object me, Go and know more on the issue of subsidy and then let's share our opinion...... I rest my case.
