Strike action by mouth action!

When we attempted to talk sense to that tactless numbskull, Wabba, and his gang of brainless executives, they thought they were Students' Union leaders. Now they've embarrassed themselves and almost brought the NLC into disrepute.

He should have waited till Wednesday next week for him and his gang to review the effectiveness of their mouth action.

Enemy of progress somebori! Imagine, quite a majority of Nigerians are now jokingly asking if there was a strike because Wanna and his party of jokers failed to read the mood of the nation.

Hypocrisy is when you prostested against subsidy removal in 2012 but supports it in 2016.

SS/SE have been vindicated
Not even 2012. Adams Oshiomole shut down Nigeria when Obasanjo tried to remove subsidy. In fact it was what he rode on to emerge Governor. I am happy being one of the people that supported it from Obasanjo to Jonathan. I've always made it clear that Yar'Adua erred greatly reversing Obasanjo's subsidy removal and sale of refineries.

Obasanjo arrests Oshiomhole before general strike

Nigerian security forces arrested at
gunpoint the country's top union official
on Saturday, his union said, ahead of a
general strike called for Monday which
the government has declared illegal.
Union officials said that
Adams Oshiomhole,
president of the umbrella
Nigeria Labour Congress
(NLC), was arrested at the
international airport in
the capital Abuja en route
to Benin and taken away
to an unknown location.
"Our president was
arrested at gunpoint early
this morning on his way
to Benin for an official
function, around 7 a.m.,
and as of now we do not
know his whereabouts,"
said Nuhu Toro, assistant
Secretary General of industry relations at the NLC.
Government officials and police were not immediately
available for comment.

The NLC has called the general strike due to start on
Monday in protest at rising gasoline prices brought
about by the government's deregulation of the domestic
market.

A lawyer representing the umbrella union said the
strike would go ahead regardless of the arrest.
"The strike will go ahead. This intimidation will not
stop it. On the contrary it will make the strike even
more popular," said lawyer and human rights activist
Femi Falana.

The union said the walkout would initially go on until
midnight on Thursday, but left open the possibility of a
more protracted strike if negotiations still did not yield
an agreement after a two weeks break.

Opposition from the NLC is the main obstacle to
President Olusegun Obasanjo's plans to deregulate the
fuel market, a key measure in a basket of economic
reforms recently backed by the International Monetary
Fund.

Last month a Nigerian high court ruled that the NLC,
which has already called four general strikes over the
last year in protest at rising fuel prices, did not have
the right to strike over matters unrelated to working
conditions.

The Nigerian National Assembly is also currently
debating Obasanjo's proposals to break the monopoly
of the NLC to bring it in line with international labour
standards.

General strikes in Nigeria over the last year have not
disrupted the top African producer's over 2.3 million
barrel per day oil output, but have sometimes brought
civil unrest.
