I hope I am posting this in the right session. I guess it is the right time for me to enlighten my fellow Nigerians on what they need to know before coming to Dubai for a job or paying an Agent to get a job for them. I have also received calls and emails. Nigerians we have a long way to go and to redeem ourselves from the bad imagine we have created about our country. Ideally employers in UAE can hire from any Nationality but they avoid hiring from Nigeria or hiring Nigerians. Before you give any agent money think twice!!! Coming to Dubai I mean United Arab Emirates, the 7 Emirates. Lot of people have fallen victim and with my little experience, I can advise you. Come on with your questions and it will be answered to the best of my knowledge. Please do not ask me to get a job for you. Comments, Contributions and Live experience are welcome. Let me start by briefing you little about the country: UAE is a rich, beautiful, clean, well organized and disciplined country. 85% of its work force are experts, which makes it welcoming for all. Everything is controlled by the government and they have made it compulsory for basic amenities to be provided for employee by employer. Things like housing, transportation, food, medical insurance, school fees for at list 2kids for those on family status and flight ticket home when on vacation can be yearly or once in two years depending on your contract. Gratuity are paid at the end of your service after completion of 1years continues service and above. The Labour market is diverse. |

I will talk about the Gratuity, termination of contract and the Labour Market. The Labour market define your contract and how long you can start in a particular job. There are 3 type of sponsorship. Labour, Free Zone and Immigration. Labour: when hired, you have to complete your contract at list two years before you can leave the company or otherwise. Free Zone and Immigration: you can quite your job during probation either within 3months, 6months or at any time you wish. |

Gratuity is paid after completion of 1 year and above continues services. It is paid according to your contract. Limited or Unlimited. Gratuity is 21days per every service year for Limited Contract of 1year and above. Limited contract are mostly 1year or more. Unlimited Contract are contracts that are automatic renewed after completion. Some contracts are for 2years or 3years. Unlimited Contract can be terminated by employee or employer. If it is terminated during probation, the employee does not get gratuity. When terminated by employer after completion of 1year and above continues service, the employer is to pay you 21days of your basic salary for every completed year of service. But terminated by the employee in writing as per resignation, you will get 1/3 of 21days ie 7days for every completed year of service between 1-3, 2/3 of 21days ie 14day of every completed year of service between 3years to 5years, 21days for every completed year of service if you have worked 5years on the dot. And 30days for above 5years for each completed year of service and most not be more than your two years salary. All gratuity are based on your basic salary. |

Analee:Permanent resident is done when you have gotten a job and enter the country with the entry permit from your company. Permanent resident is sponsor by companies, family members like wife been on husband visa or husband on wife visa after a company has employ either of them and issue them a permanent resident. Children can be on either of the parents visa. Permanent resident cost includes medical fitness fees, resident ID fees, so I will not be able to quote price for you. You can also get a private permanent resident visa sponsor but is more expensive. Tourist / Visit visa range from $100 and above pending on how many months visa you are apply and also the agent who is applying the visa for you. |
