lol. sounds more like asking if it will apply to married babies of LPRs
ofcourse you are mummy's pet but not to immigration.
Children, immigration-wise is unmarried & below 21 years old.

you can enter a category here if your LPR parent naturalizes OR you are a divorcee (will put you in f2b)

for your parent to naturalize, he/she must be a LPR, have spent 5 yrs in US (i.e not spent more than 6months outside USA annually), then apply for citizenship.

so if your parent becomes a citizen, she can file for you, then you end up in F3, a very slow category which can take up to 20 years wait time
here is the soothing news, if along the line, you divorce for any reason., you can notify NVC with your divorce documents, you can be moved to F2B while keeping your priority date.

e.g if you have waited for 8 years and you divorce, there is a good chance when you move to F2B, you be invited for interview same year because F2B has 6 to 7 yrs wait time.

Lol Thanks for that, very clear!

@pretty16, good to hear from you babe

you should be glad you were not moved to f1.
just remind her NOT to request category change.
also, note that with your priority date, it is very possible for someone at the embassy to accurately link your case to your nairaland handle.

comments and posts you make on this forum, even if you dont mean them or does not describe your real world personality could haunt you.
because i heard from the past VO that for immigrant cases, they do investigate thoroughly and that they actually check posts and tweets.
which is understandable given the kind of world we live in today.

it is good you are focusing on your business, i am also single too just because of this pending case.
which quarter of what year is your priority date?
mine is 4rd quarter of 2009.

Thanks @ Slightlymad. Mine is 2nd quarter of 2011. Your case would be current soon. Have u been contacted by NVC?? Wish you all the best

you can follow the visa bulletin here https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/bulletin.html
it is not predictable but F2As take less than 2 years.

final action is when the embassy can invite you for interview

dates for filing is when NVC can reach out to you to pay fees and send in documents.
after NVC's CC (Case Complete)

NVC contacts lagos embasy to schedule a date for your interview.
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by fx4tified: 12:17pm On May 21, 2016
@slightlymad thanks alot.
On the June 2016 visa bulletin my PD falls below the cut off date on the Dates for filing Application chart. i.e PD is Aug. 2015/ Date of filing Application moved to Oct. 2015.

Questions:
Firstly, does it mean i will be contacted by NVC in June to begin my application process even without my PD being current yet?

Secondly, how long does the process till interview take?

Thanks.

get the petitioner to get your case number (the number starting with either WAC, LIN, SRC, EAC, etc depending on center he filed your case)
go to https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do
type in the case number and check the status of your case. if you get "my case was approved"
then your case should now be with DOS

Once your case is with the department of state's NVC
you/petitioner should get a new number LGS200XXXXXXX
LGS=lagos embassy, so your case info will be available on https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

it is only when your case is with NVC that you can expect an email from NVC based on the published date of filling
you should set your email address with NVC using form Ds-261 on that page

if your case is still being processed by USCIS, you need to call USCIS to ask why, they are actually very nice people and can speed up your case
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by fx4tified: 2:15pm On May 21, 2016
Thanks for your prompt response.
Yes, got my case approved on 31th Dec.,2015.

DOS confirmed receipt of my case and send a letter on 25th Jan., 2016.
Also got my NVC case number starting with LGS....
Last letter received from NVC states that "This petition will be eligible for a visa number and further processing once your priority date is earlier than the cut-off date listed in the current edition of the visa bulletin."

This is it so far so what do you think?
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by slightlyMad(f): 4:11pm On May 21, 2016
opps!
you will get an email next month, sorry i did not read your questions clearly
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by fx4tified: 5:54pm On May 21, 2016
more like it, tnx.

Do you have any idea how long the whole NVC process will take from payment, application till interview?

depending on how quick you respond.
when you send your documents in, it takes roughly 3 weeks to 1 month to get update

your category will move drastically in the coming months.

@op...have u heard of this site? myprioritydate.com?...how effective is it?....the site is used to calculate the period when ones priority date will be current...the site is cool
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by bokohaman: 1:23am On May 27, 2016
@fxftified...your case is likely to be current by june2017 ...using myprioritydate.com to calculate it
Re: US Family Preference Visa Waiters Lounge by fx4tified: 12:57pm On May 30, 2016
@bokohaman thanks for ur opinion but i think ur estimation for my PD might be way too far.

I agree with you @slightlymad because the upcoming US election have increased the rate of due applicants for naturalization/citizenship which in turn would be favorable to the upcoming Visa bulletins.

i seriously doubt this because naturalization is handled by a very different department entirely, i.e department of homeland security

The visa bulletin we watch here is from department of state

i am guessing based on visajourney.com's predictions located here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/visa-bulletin-predictions-family-sponsored.php
Visajourney gets their predictions from people who update their profile with interview dates they get from NVC, even when they are not yet current.
so if someone who has 4 months to become current based on bulletin gets interview date set 2 months away
you can be sure that next months movement will be roughly 2 month, then the next, another 2 months movement.
this has to be because you wont be interviewed unless you are current.

Yea i got you but d reason i thought so was that the more LPR petitioners who naturalize and become US citizen, the more such applicants are taken off the visa waiting list.

Good afternoon, and thanks for the response and comments so far,,i just have a little problem that im seeking your advise.i applied for a conference visa sometime last year and i was denied,my wife who is a green card holder and a citizen last year decembe(dow she hasnt started filing for her citizenship, but she is eligible) now decides to file for me,i learnt the filling takes time, say a year atleast and could extend to 3/4yrs.now my question is,should she invite me and try our luck or she should just go on with the filling, don't want to stay away from her for 3/4 yrs,cos she may not be coming to Nigeria anytime soon, she has phobia for flying.please your advise is seriously needed

You should just go ahead with the filing because the early the better. Also she could begin her naturalization process which if she eventually succeeds automatically takes you off the visa waiting list.

Thanks for the response and please I need to get something's cleared from your answer.so if she gets to nationalize herself, before filling for me,how long will it take for me to join her?I mean at most.and is it neccesary s he does that before filling.finally if she invites me before the filling, will that have any negative influence on the filling .thanks God bless

Firstly, this could be done simultaneously. she could start by filing for you under the F2A category while her naturalization could also be in process.
Secondly, all of the processes take some time just that some are shorter than the others. So, i'll advise you focus on the processes rather than time.
Thirdly, the chances of you getting a visa while you have a pending petition is like having uninterrupted power supply in nigeriasmiley and i bet you wouldn't want to be lying about that to the V.O.

Just my opinion.
