After years of operating a daily route from Houston to Lagos, United Airlines will stop flying to Nigeria next month. Their last fight will be on June 30th, ending the airline's only route to Africa. They confirmed this to a twitter user who asked them if it was true. According to reports, United Airlines is ending their flights to Nigeria for two major reasons asides the one they mentioned above. 1, the weakness in the energy sector in Nigeria and 2. they (and other airlines) have been having difficulties collecting money from airline tickets sold in Nigeria. Nigeria in the last few months have restricted the amount of money that can be moved abroad after the global slump in oil prices depleted our dollar reserve. Nigeria owed airlines about $575 million in air fares as of March 31, according to the International Air Transport Association. United is not the first airline to end it's route to Nigeria. British Airways had also allegedly threatened to stop flying to Nigeria if something is not done about their money being stuck here. Delta Airlines will now be the only major U.S. carrier flying to Africa. United Airlines closing shop here means a lot of Nigerians will lose their jobs. Buhari's administration is caused. He means well but good never follows him. I am still a strong believer Buhari had a hand in the uprising in the North and he used it to frustrate GEJ's administration. Never forget Buhari is a sore loser. Dog, baboon and blood Sad to say Buhari's administration owes airlines 575 million USD. |

So much for change. What haven't we paid yet? Think it's high time we offer Buhari as a sacrifice to the gods. |

This is bad news, investors are running, then competition in the America to Nigeria airline sector will be eliminated thereby making delta airline to start misbehaving. with the way things are going, even ghana to Nigeria flight will be aborted. |

Since May 29th, 2015 it has been from problem to another. When I told a friend, that buhari and APC won't know peace 4 d 4years, he thought was praying a bad prayer. U can't join hands, lie, hate, use propaganda, bokoharam to make an innocent man GEJ's administration ungovernable and av peace. The bad part is that APC won't even see monies to steal.(most of the ministers don't even have houses to stay)...ameachi is crying, no money and I know he is in debt. Fashola is regretting. God does not sleep nor slumber. The only way is for them to apologize to GEJ 4 all their atrocities first. Then mayb God will answer their prayers and show them a bit of light. And d zombies that also joined in insulting GEJ will not be excluded. Most of them are the highest hit. The north and d west.(no light, fuel, jobs, forex, hardship everywhere; the number of mad people in Lagos has increased sef). It's sad, but that is life for you. Karma is a universal law. God bless GEJ. |
