What is the focus of your blog? I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to create.

Don't make the same mistake I made when I first started my blog. I later had to search for what I love to write about then changed to career and education niche(adsense purpose). Now do what I did. Sit down and think thoroughly on what you have passion for and good at but Ofcourse you can blog general stuffs if you dont have d mindset of monetizing. Goodluck. www.farjetbest. not there yet too but the blog is growing daily.

get a domain name before any other thing

Nothing wrong with having a general blog. Lots of people do. And don't feel pressured or rushed into monetizing your site.

You DO NOT have to monetize a blog if you don't want to. Sure, it's a great way to earn passive income (when done correctly) but it's not necessary to make your blog "successful". That will determine what you want to blog about.

Also, don't invest in resources (custom themes, domain names, etc) until you have a solid understanding of what you want to blog about. I've made that mistake before, as have a number of others. It just wastes resources. So take some time to consider what you want to write about -- something you want to commit to over the long term -- and then go from there.
