He was a member of the Nation of Islam. Their ideology was that blacks are Africans that were stolen from Africa as slaves and will one day return home to Africa. That was why he represented everything Africa even his changed name was a Muslim one because they believed Islam is Africa's religion

I don't know if the Nation of Islam still exist though

Muhammad Ali didn't change his name because it is an African religion(though he was a pro African/black activist), he's intelligent so he knows the name "Muhammad Ali" is NOT an African name but a Muslim/Arabic name.

Muhammad Ali loved Islam, he loved the unity in Islam that was the main reason Nation Of Islam was created the "unity", go and read about Malcolm X and know what nation of Islam is all about.

Malcolm X love Islam more when he went for pilgrimage in Mecca (Hajj) and he saw the unity during hajj, no racism all race worship in unity, since the whites are more of Christianity and they took them for slavery they believe Islam is more of non-racism and perfect religion to fight for the blacks freedom.

1)Ali isn't actually intelligent. With an I.Q of 76 or 8.
