Its either you did not read the full story or you just decided to ignore it. BEDC is charging for bills that are not incurred by customers. As I write am in Bedc office in edo state to complain of overbilling. And mind you some areas of the state are enjoying 18hrs of service per day, every day. Majority of the areas just get 3hrs per day,every day. And the shocking thing is the two sets pay almost the same thing.

You must be very silly to say that. The government is incompetent so also the BEDC. I'm not in support of any of them. they're both to blame but the only thing APC is good at is shifting blames.

Mumu governor, what right do a governor have to revoke a Disco license? The statement is political
A Disco can not distribute what is not generated, please get sense.
... and if a few generated is distributed and the customer is not willing to pay, the customer should be cut out and the light supply to others that are willing tom pay. simple.
Please don't forget that the disco do pay for the supply gotten from Generation, pay staff cost and maintenance. in short, the governor statement is a fat lie and an empty treat. mumu

Nice move by Edo State governor. He should however, take a further step of championing the removal of electricity administration (generation, transmission and distribution) from the Federal level. If state and other corporate bodies are allowed to generate, transmit and distribute electricity within their area of influence, then we would have defeated the MONOPOLISTIC tendencies were are currently experiencing. If there is healthy competition, value for money will be achieved by all.

Yes, you are right. They can only distribute what is generated to them but they can't charge more than the amount due on the transmitted power to them. Assuming they are supplied 150MW for 10 hrs per day, The energy used is 1500MH or 1, 500, 000KWH per day. In a month is 45, 000, 000KWH. A KWH cost N24 per KW so total money they should generate is N1, 080, 000, 000 monthly. Let say 200, 000 houses in Benin city alone and they're given N5, 000 monthly estimated bills, then BEDC 'll have made N1, 000, 000, 000. Then consider other areas in Edo like Auchi, Uromi, akoko Edo etc.. And then Ondo and Ekiti states and part of Delta that are also under BEDC.
So you can see that the DISCOS are ripping off consumers with estimated bills. They can make up to 100 times what they ought to make by supplying darkness. That's why they're not concerned about any systems collapse.
Let them tell us the total amount of bills they sent out this month to consumers under BEDC and we can compare to amount of light supplied by TCN (this can be obtained on their website or Office ). then we can know who is being sincere or not.

In your hurry to sound correct, you missed where he said Bedc charges exorbitantly for services not rendered or don't you think electricity bills should be commensurate to usage.. U don talk am finish. improper privatisation. Oshio said it as it is private monopoly. No be dem fault. On the contrary, I believe Fashola is smart and intelligent. I doubt he was deceived. Someone somewhere who I don't know mentioned EKDC as a conflict of interest. No one can prove that though. Like i said someone na im talk am o. But it makes more sense at the failure to attack the monopoly or protest at the increment. I hate to break it to you guys, but this government has done everything to worsen a bad situation. Everything is about increasing tariff while cutting supply to funds and jobs. Magic.

How can bedc in the wildest dream give customers outrageous bill of almost 1000watts charges when they didn't consume up to 100watt in actual calculation. The high time the government look into this act of stealing and extortion by Bedc the better for its oppressed customers

the govnor is not blaming bedc for the power situation what he is saying is, if the generating company are not generating then why the high bills for services not rendered, and bedc has this atitude of disconnecting any area that protest, in my area no light for 2 month just because of a little misunderstanding with bedc staff

I really don't understand some people. D governor never blamed them for not generating enough electricity, all he said z bill them according to what they consume, which is d right thing to do. As for d other person that said how can a governor revoke disco license, you must have read d thread from a phone with low ba3 so u didn't finish reading b4 commenting, he never said he was gonna revoke their "disco license". Charge your phone well n read again. #No offence intended# In all, I think those people need sense talked into them cos them dey misbehave no b small
