The first part of sewing is to learn how to take different body measurements.

How to take basic blouse body measurements

Shoulder length
Front chest
Bust width
Waist width
Hips width

Pattern paper
Paper cutting scissors
Tape measure
Ruler
Curved ruler
Pencil

What if you don't have a curved ruler, can you do free hand?

Answer: yes you can, it is not compulsory

You can get it to buy in a book shop it is also called a French curve.

Mark your centre front on your pattern paper and square out your guide line AB at the top.

Mark 1/2 your shoulder length measurement on the guideline AB

Square down and mark point C

Go in 2.5" on guideline and mark it point D

Mark down 1 &3/4" on point C this becomes point E

Please note you do not have to use marked pattern paper you can use plain.
