Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has said yesterday that he would pay hospital bills of Biafra agitators who were injured during the celebration of the 49th anniversary of the declaration of Biafra.

The governor also called for calm over the crisis rocking Nkpor community.


The governor made the pledge at Nkpor town hall when he came to sympathise with the people of Nkpor on the bloody clash between security operatives and Biafra agitators in which about 50 members were reportedly massacred and scores injured.


He said, “We have compiled the list of the injured in different hospitals where they are hospitalized.

“I came to sympathise with you for what happened. Before I came in as the governor, people were not sleeping, but now we sleep. Don’t allow strangers to disturb Nkpor,”he concluded.
