By Gbenga Olarinoye, Osogbo. Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria, OSCAN, hasdirected all female Christian students in both primary and secondary schools in the state to wear their church garments to their different schools, beginning from Monday. There was however palpable tension in some schools in different parts of the State including Osogbo, the state capital yesterdayover the controversy on the use of hijab by female Muslim students during school hours.Christian leaders having realised that Muslim girls now wear hijab to public schools, agreed that by next Monday, Christian students will begin to wear their garments such as those for Boys Brigade, ushers, Girls Guide, choristers, band boys, white garments and others.Vanguardauthoritatively gathered that messages have been sent to churches to mobilise their membersto ensure that their children comply with this directive.Already, Director of DSS in the state met Christian and Muslim leaders separately on Wednesday pleading for peace.A judge of Osun State High Court, Justice Jide Falola had delivered a judgement last Friday in favour of a case instituted by Osun State Muslim Community against the State Government on the right of female Muslim students in public schools in the state to use hijab on their school uniforms.Nigerians should hold Aregbesola responsible— PDPMeantime, Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,said Nigerians should hold Governor Rauf Aregbesola responsible, if more damage is done to the state’s education system through the brewing crises over wearing of hijab in public schools by female students. The party in a statement issued in Osogbo by its spokesperson, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said Muslimsand Christians in Osun state have coexisted long before now without crises and blamed the rising tensionon Governor Aregbesola, whom it accused of planning to destabilise the state for some political reasons.”Govt has no hand in the judgment”In a swift response, the state’s Solicitor General, Abiola Adewemimo, said; ‘’It has come to the notice of the State Government that the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN alleged that the judgment of the High Court of the State in favour of the right of femalepupils to wear hijab in public schools was masterminded by the State Government.‘’While we consider this to be unfortunate, we hasten to remind allreligious groups, Christians, Muslimand traditional religious worshippersthat the Judiciary is an independentarm of Government that is responsible and not under the control of the Executive in anyway. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/hijab-crisis-osun-can-orders-christian-students-attend-classes-church-robes/ |

For God's sake, religion and state of origin should be abolished from our constitution if we are to make headway in our progress as a nation. How can we practice religion more than the whites that brought it to our shores in the first place? Look at where we are today- million miles from them. Now i believe that there is something wrong in being black- Pure Black Mentality. Please our law makers should sit up for us to make a headway. |

In fact the traditionalists should direct their children children wards to wear white robes and palm fronds to school too. Nigeria is a secular country. Whatever gives the Muslims T right to wear whatever they like to school, will also give other students the same right. They also have their religious centres fundamental rights t uphold. Thank God the Muslim Judge just gave me ruling that glorifies anarchy and that tactically declares public schools in Osun State as religious schools. Let the madness continues. |

But Hijab is part of their dress code even outside school. I was expecting deeper life girls and other Christians who tie scarves to ask for their own freedom to do so too. I do not see Moslem girls asking to wear their abaya or Eleha clothes to school. They are only asking to be allowed to cover their hair as they ussualy do. |

Aregbesola started it all I can still remember vividly when he told those muslim leaders ''e pe wa le'jo'' meaning sue us(i:e the government) to court, the osun state has hands in the judgement, the judge even said its their right, when I was in sec school a muslim public school a fellowship is organised for christian students but those muslims wants to kill that fellowship, after some period of inactivity we have to move the fellowship to a nearby church, those muslims still maintains that the fellowship thing is not possible even when we are not in the school premises. I think it is high time we Christians need to stand up for our heritages, as a Baptist I know very well that it is not in the vision of T.J Bowen that all our mission schools wiil adopt hijab as one of such school dressing code |

delishpot:What's is the meaning of "being in uniform". We should stop making religion a priority in everything. Give muslim hijab, then you should also give christians headtie to tie. What of the traditional worshipers? The should tie red wrapper too? Then define me the meaning of uniform form again ![]() 90% of (you guys) muslim are religion fanatic. They are all crazy. lugard you did well to assemble to variation of people with no link whatsoever. |

If Nigeria schools doesn't use uniforms, the Hijab thingy wouldn't be an issue. But what's the use wearing uniforms when the dress code isn't uniformed itself. |

amjoseph19:Well, if traditional worshiper has something they must put on 24/7 then they should be allowed to use it too as long as it blends in with the uniform. If Moslem girls we're asking to wear Abaya or bourqua that would have been a different thing. Christian women can tie their headscarves too. Traditional religion peeps who want to can also wrap their hair. After all Moslem boys are not asking to wear their salat clothes to school. Since we have made religion our main focus let everyone be allowed to wear what they want. |

What is wrong with Muslims in Osun and in this country generally? We must learn to separate the state from religion. If the muslim students are allowed to wear their religious clothing(hijab) to school then worshippers of traditional deities like Amadioha & Sango should be allowed to put on their masquerades to school as well. Children of babalawos should be allowed to attend school with their red wrappers and leaves on their head with white chalk around their eyes. What is wrong with Muslims for goodness sakes? Look at what they are doing in the north this ramadan period, Christians are not asking them not to fast or disturbing them in any way but if they see you eating as a Christian, they bounce on you, beat the daylight out of you and kill you just like what happened in kaduna State recently. Look at Kano state, their Islamic Hisbah police go about harassing traders of beer and other alcoholic drinks because of their sharia law. These people destroy your goods when you have not forced them to take alcohol. Now my question is who forced them to drink alcohol or are non-muslims no longer free to live their lives in this country again? Is sharia law now superior to Nigeria's constitution ![]() |

delishpot:Yea... Sure. The traditional worshipers with their masquerade attire, the muslim with their hijab should all carry placard on their head with their name boldly written on it so that the teacher can identify them abi? What the hell....?? That shit should be done in private school not in a public school. |
