Check Out Photo Of The Pioneer Female Graduates Of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1963


Pictured are seven out of the eleven women who graduated on the 15th of June 1963 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. According to Ike Anya, Miss Okereke became Nigerian ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago as Mrs Kurubo. Miss Nwodo, as Mrs Grace Obayi was a Commissioner for Education in Enugu State in the late 1990s. Mrs Onwuteaka went on to become school principal and later senior educational administrator in Nigeria. Source: Ike Anya

I knew Mrs Onwuteka at Nsukka.
She was a devot christian at St Paul's Cathedral then.

She had wonderful children and was a mother to the core - a strict disciplinarian.
Her son bought her 190 Benz brand new in 1987

If she is still alive, she would be a great-grand mother. I attended her first daughters wedding about 1989 at Nsukka.
