Go in 1/4" on the two outer sides and 1 " in the corner I.e 45 degrees. Join all three points using a curved ruler to form the neckline.is you are a large size then you will go in 1/2" on the sides. Extra large 3/4" etc

Now that the neckline is done next is the armhole.

From the guideline on the shoulder line go down 9" and mark .

Measure and mark out 1/4 of your bust measurements plus 1/2 for bust easing

Mark out the midpoint between your shoulder line and bust line and square out. Mark out 1/2 of your front chest measurement.

Use a curved ruler to join the three points to create the arm hole.

From the end of the armholes go down 2 & 3/4" mark and square down

Go down 1"from point M and Mark . Mark out the mid point and join all three points to intersect with the bust point to form the side dart.

Measure the front body from the shoulder to the waist and Mark
From this point measure your waist and Mark 1/4 add 1/4" for easing at the side and 1/2" down for the stomach adjustments, if your stomach is a bit bigger you add 1" adjustment.
Use your curved ruler to join the points to the side and point K to the bottom


And that's your front bodice pattern. Get your scissors and cut along the line make sure your darts are folded.

The next stage is the drafting of the back bodice

For the back bodice

Mark 1" for the zip allowance and fold backwards. Draw your guide line at the top.

Measure out 1/2 of the shoulder length and Mark on the guideline

Go down 1&3/4" and from the beginning of the guideline go in 2.5" and join these two points and this becomes the shoulder slope

Ok. Wanna ask a question about the front chest and back ches. I wasnt taught about front and back chest when I learnt freehand. So I'm new to this but it makes so much sense. So pardon my numerous questions .

When cutting, can I use the same measurement of front chest for the back chest, if I want to cut the front and back armholes together at once? Or I must cut them separately?

Also if I want to cut a bodice for instance and I don't have the front chest measurement of the particular person, can I improvise by subtracting 2inches from the shoulder measurement to use as the front chest measurement? Do you think this will work generally for everyone?

Answer:[b] I measured 9" from the guideline, this is above the shoulder slope. I also think you are confusing the bust line with the arm hole . On the front bodice you add 1/2" for easing which increases the armhole curve and for the back bodice you deduct 1/2" which narrows the armhole curve at the back.

Everyone please note this is a basic bodice for a medium size. Once you get this technique then you can an always make your adjustments from this and you will end up with garments with a professional finish.

In my videos, when I say square out that means you draw a lines in both directions from the Mark or point. Vertical and horizontal lines. If the Mark or point is already on a line then you draw a perpendicular line.
