this picture reminds me of how Boko Haram started in Maiduguri..........political thugs of the former Ali Modu Sheriff led ANPP were harmed with clubs that looked exactly like the ones being brandished in this picture. All they did was terrorize innocent passers-by and intimidate political opponents. Gradually, they began to brandish more sophisticated weapons. When Ali Modu finally ended his tenure as Executive Governor, these touts became redundant and were quickly infiltrated into the Boko Haram army.
