I have seen ministers make altar calls, and then they pray for the converts without making them pray the sinners prayer. according to Romans 10:9-10 one should confess Jesus as Lord.. then you'll be saved! am I taking the scripture literally or are the ministers incorrect?

If they have been convicted by God, they have already made a spiritual declaration. Neither can that prayer save someone who's spirit has not been transformed. Belief is the key. When you look at the gatherings of Christ Himself, and even his disciples later, there is little reference to ritual meant for people who have already believed.
