This op forgot to add that English sometimes is crazy. Words like ch sometimes is pronounced as k as in Chaos and at times pronounced as sh as in Church. This should be titled English and its Palava. I remain loyal to my L1

Nice facts that some nairalanders would term as nonsense all cos there are no words like stuning, cleavage, hot, snake, epic reply, olajumoke, classy and d likes in there.

but anyway these are good FP materials

OgidiOlu3:
Lemme add;

1.“I am” is the shortest complete sentence in the English language.

2. A pangram sentence is one that contains every letter in the language.
For example, the sentence “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” is a pangram.

3. There are “ghost words” that mean nothing.
Believe it or not, there are some words that appeared in the dictionary because of printing errors. The nonexistent word “dord” appeared in the dictionary for eight years in the mid-20th century. It became known as a “ghost word.”

4. There’s a name for words that we repeat often.
Words we always use even though they add no meaning or value to a sentence are called crutch words. For example, in the sentence “Then I was like, OMG, then like, he went there, and like…” it is pretty obvious that “like” is the crutch word. “Actually,” “honestly,” and “basically” are also commonly used as crutch words.

5. Swims will be swims even when turned upside down.
Such words are called ambigrams.

6. English is the language of the air.
This means that all pilots have to identify themselves and speak in English while flying, regardless of their origin.

7. Girl used to mean small boy or girl.
The word “girl” was not initially used to refer to a specific gender. It used to mean “child” or “young person” regardless of the gender.

Nice one, although your 1st fact is wrong. The expression, "go!" is a complete sentence and is much shorter than "I am". Imperative sentences can come as single words.

@OP, your post is spot on except your heading. Saying facts we DON'T know is wrong. It is a generalization and it's fallacious. I studied English and I know the facts you mentioned. DON'T should have read MAY NOT.

Nice one bro but a sentence is a combination of two or more words so I still think it's correct.

And you forgot to highlight the colonization of English structures or grammar for about 25 centuries by Latin.Ferdinand de Sassure challenged that before people like Noam Chomsky, MAK Halliday further liberated it grammatically.
Today the English Language is the most catholic of all tongues but no longer the exclusive preserve of the English people. It can be acquired with its top-end accent-the BBC Accent. That's why someone like Wole Soyinka could be the play reader at Leeds University whilst there. That's why many Nigerians and Africans and other nationals become newsreaders on the BBC.A position formerly reserved for professional speakers.
