It's a shame some Nigerians are mast. Ubating on the challenges of another. Buhari claimed to even borrow money to pay for his presidential form. So, no big deal about borrowing, in fact it is an essential aspect of nations economy or that of businesses. If you look into the matter properly, you may even find p that the man may have been cajoled or entreated into taking the money during the days of surplus. Unfortunately, the economy took a downturn later. Many business were hurt. He said the real estate arm is the one that has issue. Thank God for him. His assets, I am sure will cover his liability. Now in business, that is not that bad. Take Donald Trump for instance, at one time in his life he was literally on the edge. Even the bankers almost frustrated his come back, but alas he was able to negotiate a better deal and survived. Many people see him now as a super star. In Nigeria, because of differences of opinion and maybe sectional interests, some are quick to shame the good senator. My advice is that amcom should renegotiate the payment schedule instead of flexing muscles. Take the assets or even auction them, what will they do with the money? I can guess. One person from the govt, or the govt itself will quickly reach for it and it will be written into another expenditure list. Like the saying goes, owe the bank 1 million, you won't rest, owe the back 1 billion, the bank won't rest. Also, banks are the only sets that give you an umbrella when it is sunny and demands it when it is raining. I pray that the man and his family overcomes this challenge to become bigger and better. Now the rest of you haters will not gain from his woes. You won't even inherit the assets. Meanwhile, maybe someone somewhere close to you needs the business to go on.

Is he not better than AIT Group that's been notorious for chronic owing and highhandedness?!

People stupidly rejoicing at his downfall and now inability to sustain his over 1000 staff! B@stards who no get shishi dey rejoice say dem papa don fall, abi?!

Stupid goats Gloating on his downfall without considering all the macroeconomics of running business in Nigeria. Govt policies alone crippled a lot of businesses and sent many on to their early graves. What will you say to those foreigners who've left Nigeria then? Even the 1000plus staff, was there record of them complaining? Was it on record that he had been owing them before?! Even, the loan's on a repayment plan, only that they've not been able to meet up!

So far, i see that the chap's managed his multifaceted portfolio without fuss and the baddass Use&Condemn habit of a lot of other corporations run by taskmaster Jews, Crafty Chinkos, stingy Koreans and those abominably despicable Indians.

But what gets me is the unnecessary hating on the man.

I find comments like this ridiculous! !!!.

Bank employees were sacked because he couldn't pay back loan he borrowed?
If I was sacked by Union Bank based on this, I would sue them because they would have to prove to me I was the account officer of the facility that did not monitor the account continuously, and that I was also the credit officer who did not perform due diligence, I would also be the bank manager of that branch where the financing contract was signed and authorise (if it were within my authorisation limit) and wait!!!. I would also be the regional manager who must approve such loan and the executive directors who would also know about the loan and the CEO who raises non performing loan at board meetings and discuss on strategies to adopt in recovering the loan with the risk management team.

Even the risk management should be sacked since they could not determine the credit worthiness of the applicant and if the said facility risk appetite would be favorable to the bank in the long run

But why are people amazed by this?
Have we all forgotten the AIT creditors siege on the broadcast station due to loans owed?

Harsh economic realities is affecting most companies that their projected repayment date has elapsed while inflation sets in.
This has led to default in loan repayments and increase in interest on loan at a geometric progression!!

This vicious circle is mainly caused by government monetary and fiscal policies, political like war, coup d etat and other factors I cannot think of now!!!

This man is funny. He took loans amount to N11bn a decade ago, refused to service the loans and is now telling us that he employs 1000 persons and pays them above the minimum wage. Shoro niyen? We are talking N11bn here o, not N11 million. He should better go and settle his debts. They will be feeding fat on other people's money while the rest of us languish in ....

Wow, this man's response to questions thrown at him just changed my thought about him.

He's indeed a perfect gentle man. It's truly unfair to rejoice over his temporary issues, and according to him its a loan to set up businesses that gave jobs to over 1000 jobless Nigerians.

I wish him all the best as he gets off this unfriendly present moments.

Point of correction. He's aim for starting a business is profit. If he wants to feed people, they don't have to work for him. That's philanthropy.

You think if he doesn't make profit, he will continue the business? Heck he even meant to double his profit, that's why he borrowed.

I can't understand how you people can justify such actions.

For the record, I am not against him for borrowing, but he must pay back. Any business needs loans to survive. There are many SME's who really grow the economy, but can't get loans because big men like Ben Bruce won't pay back what they borrowed.

Are you not a business person? Or do you not have friends or relatives doing business? Ask them if they won't like to get loans from the bank.

Am so happy that Buhari will have no oppurtunity to trace or link his property to the arm deal. Anything more than this Buhari will instruct Magu to link this loan to Dasuki's arm deal as his trying to do to Fayose.

“Because of a mere N11 billion debt, AMCON/Buhari and APC want to take over Silverbird”
“Buhari is simply going after his political enemies to silence them”
“The takeover of Silverbird is purely political witch-hunt”
“Is Ben Bruce the only person who owes money in Nigeria?”
“Dangote owes N209 billion but Bruce owes only N11 billion, yet Dangote is walking free”
"In fact, Buhari is a tyrant, Buhari is a dictator, a Hilter, a devil, a destroyer, we want freedom, bla bla bla…."

These are the sort cringe inducing statements spewed into cyberspace since yesterday by ‘the usual suspects,’ most of whom are supposed to be the so called leaders of tomorrow. 99% of the people spewing these thing have no clue what it means to service a loan, neither do they have a clue how AMCON operates.

They have also intentionally turned a blind eye or are just plainly ignorant of the fact that Ben Bruce is not the first person to have his business possessed; a mere application of the Common Sense which Mr Bruce has been trying hard to impart on these folks should have told them that bad loans have nothing to do with Buhari or APC or PDP or religion or region.

Just last month, AMCON possessed the business of Alhaji Sani Dangote (Bulk Pack Services Ltd) for bad loans; Sani Dangote is the younger brother of Alhaji Aliko Dangote. We did not hear this senseless cry of Buhari Buhari Buhari!!
http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/05/26/amcon-takes-over-sani-dangotes-asset/
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/debt-recovery-amcon-takes-dangotes-bulk-pack-services-ltd/

Just 3-4 days ago, this same AMCON also repossessed properties of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim due to a defaulted N50 billion loan, they even went further to freeze his accounts. We also did not hear any shouts of Buhari!
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/n50bn-debt-amcon-takes-jimoh-ibrahims-firms-freezes-bank-accounts/

Many other takeovers have been undertaken by AMCON in recent times from Bacita Sugar to G. Cappa to Bi-Courtney to Aero to Arik etc, most of these bad loans were bought by AMCON when they took over failed banks. All these happened under Yaradua, GEJ and then Buhari and never for once have we ever heard of people accusing the president for these, but now we have the Buhari hate factor.

It is sad to note how the reasoning of Nigerian youths have been so degraded; everything these days is viewed as witch-hunt, assault, attack, oppression and marginalisation even when glaring evidence proves otherwise. A lot of our folks need to emancipate themselves from this mental slavery.
