It's difficult to know the number of State government workers in any state in a fantastically corrupt country.

As long as the government does not publish the salary payments monthly.
I pity people quoting this list, they are trying to make you feel happy.. pity una.they've sold you.

They could have quoted the ministries these so-called federal civil service data was culled from, cos last time i checked Nigeria had over 100,000 federal civil servants and i wonder if this one adds to a tea spoon.

the North has domesticated you guys..Lol.. cheesy wink grin Fantastically corrupt country David Cameron must be so good wif words..laffs away

The north has the highest number of civil servants in Nigeria

This is a biased information
Check out the OP' s name
What did you expect?
There is no "North" in the constitution, there is only states.

The states crying about marginalization are the ones running the country as civil servants.

I doubt this figure is true but if it is true dont forget that Imo state is the most educated state in Nigeria, the amount of well informed individuals there is mind blowing and even in jamb intake the still remain the highest that always write the said exam.

Exctly.
The same way they are represented here is also the same way they are represented in most major cities of the country , living their lives in peace. (except from a few flare ups here and there which is simply normal)
What else explains their behaviour if not that they are simply ingrates.

creating new employment opportunities is never a waste of money
You can't just employ an extra ### ### number of people. That has already been done over the years and aside from the effect on recurrent expenditure, it creates redundancy and ultimately reduces the effectiveness of the workforce.

Creating an enabling environment is a more critical role of governments than being an employer of labor because the former will lead to the latter. The problem is that past leaders have barely had to do a lot of critical thinking as against sit down with calculator to share oil wealth. When you do this for 35 years plus and forget the part about creating an enabling environment, you end up with Nigeria of 2016 where

1. You have a mono-economy dependent on crude oil revenues. When crude oil price falls, the economy is paralyzed as we have it today with many states owing salaries
2. Government is the largest employer of labor
3. A crippling redundancy in civil service where an office has oga, deputy oga, assistant oga, secretaries to oga, deputy, assistant oga, office clerks to deliver memo from upstairs to downstairs, personal assistant, correspondence keeper etc.
4. A civil service where people must get promoted after 4 years whether they have been productive or not
Etc.

If the civil service is restructured for efficiency and government job is all about efficiency and effectiveness like in the private sector, we would see tremendous change in the system.
Re: States And Number Of Federal Civil Servants by Francis5: 12:25pm On Jun 30, 2016
Add police, military, customs, prison wardens and then give us new stats.

Volksfuhrer:
It's an inefficient way to tackle unemployment. FG's recurrent expenditure is already stifling economic development, and yet you propose the FG add more to this problem. Developing critical infrastructure is a better alternative. Wasting more money on indolent civil servants is not the way to go.
You made a valid point that most of these children on NL with phones in their itchy fingers, graduate without education won't understand till tomorrow. They are quick to say "I'm a graduate " but their reason and utterances betray them as those who entered school but school didn't enter them, they own certicates that disowns them. sad

anybody with half a brain knows the list is as fake as Kim's butt.
FCT has 533 federal civil servants?
how many federal ministries are in Abuja? and then how many persons are in a ministry?
Is it that people don't use their brains? or they don't travel to see for themselves?
Re: States And Number Of Federal Civil Servants by CuteTj(m): 12:29pm On Jun 30, 2016
MrALIVE:
FG should increase that figure to 200 thousand to reduce unemployment rate..i don't know why it is difficult for govt to tackle unemployment when they can use this simple method
Already, The government (FG, states and LG) is the highest employer of labour in Nigeria. There is nowhere in the world that Government is the highest employer of labour in the world like in Nigeria. Also our recurrent expenditure is way more than our capital expenditure.

Now in the face of dwindling government revenue and governments cant pay their workers, you still suggest that government should employer more shows you don't have an idea of the challenge Nigeria is having.

What you should suggest to the government is to create an enabling environment (give low interest loans, reduce taxes, provide constant electricity, tackle insecurity/kidnapping/militancy, fix roads etc.) for businesses to thrive like in developed countries
