the limitations to Rutherford atomic model are two: the revolution of electrons around the nucleus in a circular orbit cannot hold, because according classical electromagnetic theory , the accelerating electrons must radiate energy anytime it revolves round he nucleus, if this should happen the atom will collapse in a period of 10-8 seconds. classical electromagnetic theory have it that anytime accelerating particles like electrons revolving round a nucleus radiate energy. and the 2nd drawback the model fail to expain the stability of the atom.
