So you just got an Android smart phone, you show it off to your friends and they all congratulate you (because the deal is that big, oh yes!). They all want to see its capability, all want to take selfies with it but there are some people eh, enemies of progress, they are planning of taking such precious gadget away from you (Awon iranu!). What you use your hard earned money to purchase. You are smart to know your phone isnt safe But the thing is you havnt figured out how to guard it. The fact is everybody wants a smart phone(Android Smart phone) but only few people know how to treat it right. This is why ROIDIFY is here, to give you tips and advice on how you can safekeep your smartphone and avoid falling victim of phone thieves, malwares and pryers alike. so lets begin.

1. Get a screen guard/phone case
These accessories are vital for protecting your phone. There are two types of screen; the black plastic-like one and the extra glass screen. they are both good and serve the same purpose. The screen guard is an extra screen for your phone, it protects the original screen from scratch, it also protects it from breaking incase it falls. The phone case on the other hand protects the overall body of the phone from damage. A screen guard costs about N300 to N1000 depending on the type(plastic or glass).

2. Use a secure lock screen
Sadly in this day and age many Android smart phone users still dont lock there phones. Even if its a basic pin. You cabdo this by navigating to
settings>security>screen lock then follow the instructions. You can lock your phone using password, pattern or pin unless your phone comes with a finger print locker like the Nexus 6P or biometric eye scanner like the new Tecno Camon C9. I advice password is changed regularly to be on the safer side.

3. Password your apps
Yes! You can password some of your apps to be on a safer side from prying eyes. For example, I password my Whatsapp because it contains personal messages I think should be seen by some other people. You can also password your games so it you dont want others to gain access and spoil your market.

4. Be careful of what you install on your phone
Whilst it can often be a nice idea to download and install apps that aren't found on the App Store or Google Play Store, these apps tend to be the ones that are less secure. Google keep tabs on the apps that are on their app portals. This means apps that contain malicious code are likely to have been removed before you install them.

5. Install antivirus
If you are naughty and choose to install apps from unsecured sources(like me :-D). Do your phone a favour and install an anti-virus. This may not only warn you of malware threats but also help in eradicating them.The likes of McAfee, AVG and Lookout grace the Google Play store for added security, but obviously be careful of any apps that seem suspicious.

6. Do not root your phone
This is suppose to be number one on this list because rooting has become a norm among smart phone users these days without knowing the after effect and damage being done. The thing is after rooting a phone, the softwares that were written to provide guaranteed security wont work anymore. This is just one of the effects of rooting. There are others.

7. Update your phone
There are people that ones they get a smartphone they dont care about updating it. our phone is our everyday gadget and they deserve to be treated better. Updates are very important be it android system updates, app updates from Google play store or just carrier security updates. Every update comes with an added security so it is adviceble to update your phone regularly.

sorry for the late reply. it os quite easy to lock your apps. Inorder to do this you will need to install an applocker. Just visit Google Play store and type "App Locker", I currently use "smart Lock" so I recommend you get it too. after installing the app, open it and follow the instructions. I hope this helps.
