Akingbola would fight this fight till the last drop of his blood. A very rare gentleman he is. You knew how to run an organization and reward your staff accordingly. I remember all the CSR and the various donations to colleges and Universities.

You started IMBL from zero and grew it to become Intercontinental Bank, the then largest Bank in Nigeria by assets. IBPLC was the beautiful bride in banking that every young man wanted to court.

As a young graduate, you afforded me a platform to begin my career in Banking in 2008, your training school was second to none as I made my first N248,000 in 10 weeks as allowance coupled with top-notch consulting firms that delivered superb lectures to us.

After resumption, the working environment was very ideal. What about the allowance? Jetta, upfront, variable, anniversary, lunch, hazard, leave and passages. You were light years ahead of your peers.

You practically told us that whoever worked with you and has not achieved anything remarkable in 3 years ought to be fired. You shared profit to drivers, cleaners and artisans and told us that they contributed to the making of this profit. Posterity would never forget you.
I know one day, you would be vindicated.

Akingbola tought his staff to be a fighter. I completely agreed with #DrWise above that he will fight to the last point possible.
Most people don't know Dr Erastus Akingbola, his large heart, his generosity, he may have his fault but his bank was stolen from him.
Can somebody tell me the difference between the offence of Intercontinental Bank and that of the present Skye Bank plc. Our laws should not have a double face.

My dear this is how the justice system works in nigeria. It is very slow and loooong. Even after conviction, saraki will keep appealing up till supreme court. In some other countries like america, appeal is not automatic. Not every case will be allowed to go on appeal, cos u have to show cause. Saraki's case will last for the next decade

What a bloody f00lish question from another poor senseless kid.

We want our money back.

which of it is your money? the bank the man started in his sitting room? or the one the Federal Government started? again i asked during the days of intercontinental bank did any customer get to bank and they did not get there money? for your information Akingbola was at CMD 3 weeks ago as a guest in one programme called the Making of a Man where he explained the simple reason behind all this rubbish. he said as soon as Yaradua assumed duty as the President of Nigeria, his people told him he will need some banks for second term project and they pointed to some banks which intercontinental was one of and he said there mistakes was that they dont have any mallam as there board members and because of that it was easier for sanusi and co to cook up lies and frame the banks up. he also said that the government paid all the news media not to publish any interview from them making it difficult for public to know what is going on and the efcc and government started blowing their lies left and right. and i asked did Yaradua finished one term? God is not partial, let the government return there business to them, the bloods crying for revenge in this country is much.

He is a good man although he has some few bad people who advice him wrongly.
He pays salaries promptly from 25th to 28th of every month.

Very few people knows his sour relationship btw him and Sanusi in the banking industry in their hey days.
Hence the witch hunting.

This is what I hate about this country - DOUBLE STANDARDS

Tell me why Sanusi Lamido should be classified as UNTOUCHABLE just because he is an Emir. If you read the report of the FRCN's (Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria) probe on Sanusi while he was the CBN governor you will weep about the massive fraud and financial recklessness that was uncovered. But still GEJ in his wrongly advised effort to please the North and not to step on toes, did not do anything about it.

I miss General Sani Abacha, who though he looted the country, treated the Northern aristocracy and other elites, as he would treat any other Nigerian.

A country where the law is a respecter of persons and where there is selective justice and persecution of persons, is doomed. And will ever remain in the dark ages

Despite him being a great leader, he betrayed people's trust and he should be made to face the music.

A great leader should take the glory (as you have given him in your comment) and also take the blame/punishment when things go wrong.

They didn't loot money per say. Their main crime were manipulation of share prices and giving out loans without following laid down due processes. Most of those loans went bad with the debtors being unable to repay them following the global meltdown which led to crashes in share prices and oil prices. Mind you, majority of the people that collected the loan had invested it in stock and Oil and Gas.

You and Akingbola are big jokers. Have you ever heard of Habib Bank and its predecessors. Yaradua would prop up Intercity bank and Unity bank if he needed a bank.
One reason why a lawyer would not want a case to finish is a fear that the evidence against his client were overwhelming. Akingbola, Atuche and Nwosu took that option.
Cecilia was well advised to accept her offence, be convicted and move on while a sympathetic judge was available. Akintola and co gambled and will now face their trial under the CJA, better EFCC and nairaland comments. The stakes are against him and the evidence will be shared live on nairaland as it happpened.

Much much deeper.
Have you not thought about how the richest bank in Nigeria in terms of asset and structure was bought over by access bank that was not even among 1 - 10, whom Md and dmd were debtors to intercontinental bank?
And how the interim MD was a former manager to saraki's conglomerates before he was assigned to head intercontinental bank...

D way dis EFCC always jumps on social media and to d media in general to male noise about an impending or on-going prosecution and even mere allegations without completing investigations is really becoming embarrassing and annoying. They should go to the courts and allow d media follow dem there instead of making noises all d time...

Simply because the whole justice system is partial and inequitable. What people fail to realise is that these justices, lawyers and prosecutors come from somewhere. Some have partisan sympathies, others religious or sectional tendencies. When you ask them to be professional in the discharge of their duties they ask you to be professional in your agenda and advances, in the discharge of your duties. If you cannot be sincere (the government, the executive), it is ridiculous to expect and demand the other arms especially the Judiciary to be.

The Head of the FBI in America is appointed by the President at the bequest of Congress. It did not stop them from investigating Hilary Clinton, Obama's natural succesor and wife of a former President who wields enormous influence. There is no way they will have indicted her but she had to go through the process in the interest of democracy and had to be cleared in detail and technicality to erase any doubt on the other side of the polity. In Nigeria, the opposite has been the case. No one from the ruling party in government especially has been questioned thoughtless of investigated, thoughtless of cleared. This anomaly is the primary reason (like it or not) why the system is not working, why the system has 'knocked', why it is being sabotaged.

Of all the misadventures of Obasanjo, he had one thing going for him, he could turn on anyone and so far he is the President who has done the most in the fight against corruption, has secued the most convictions and put the largest number of persons behind bars to date. If after doing all that, corruption could not be conquered, what hope is there corruption will not thrive, explode after Buhari's tenure is over, because the malaria of corruption is 'partially treated'. We ae talking about Skye bank today because Intercontinental, Oceanic, Finbank and the rest were NOT PROPERLY DEALT WITH, they were handled, politically, partially, so lessons were not learnt and history has repeated itself. Just how many more banks are diseased?

Take it from me today, the people who are spared today in the cause of political expediency are the ones who will perpetuate corruption in the future, 2019 and beyond, only that time it will be more severe. They will steal more and hide it deeper. Will we blame the Judiciary system then. Will you blame the doctor when you return to the ER with a relapse for a partially treated infection? This country is not doing well. We either restructure or collapse, period.
