Line up the shoulder of your front and back bodice pattern to make sure that they are properly lined up

Take the measurement of the arm hole circumference

Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 4:28pm On Sep 02, 2016
Draw your guide line and intersect it at the centre with a straight line. Mark this intersection point A.

Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 4:34pm On Sep 02, 2016
Measure and mark out 1/3 of the armhole circumference along this line. This becomes point "B".
Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 5:26pm On Sep 02, 2016
Label one side of the line the front and the other side the back.

Continue constructing the cap line of the sleeve.

Measure half of the armhole circumference place one end of the tape on point A and the other end on the line on point B.
Mark this point. B1 and B2 for front and back respectively. Then draw a straight line to join point A to B1 and do same for B2.

Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 5:32pm On Sep 02, 2016

From C3 go up 3/4" in a diagonal manner.

Measure and Mark out the sleeve length. I am using 7.5" as a standard

Extend this point by drawing a line.

Mark out 1" for the seam allowance.

Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 7:01pm On Sep 02, 2016
Cut out your pattern

Measure B1 to B2 this should be equivalent to the circumference of your fullest arm 12" for the medium plus 1/2" for easing.
Re: Sewing for beginners by marylandcakes: 7:03pm On Sep 02, 2016
