That was what I thought untill I recalculated. I think the final answer is 1000. Let me tell u how...
Lets assume the buyer came with nothing because her money worth nothing. But she went with 1000 (800 naira change and 200 naira worth of good = 1k) The fake money (i.e the nothing the buyer came with was given to Mr John. At this point Mr John has lost 1000. When he realised he was with a fake money (the nothing) he went back and collected his 1000 back. Remember that the 1000 that the shopkeeper gave to John was the only money he brought out from his own shop. The change given to the buyer was from John's money and not from the shopkeepers pocket. Then the 200naira collected by the seller now serves as the payment for the goods taken home by the dubious buyer?
