yes it is. The point system is what will be used to make jamb's list of provisional admission.

I don't think d point system will determine provisional admission, I think it'll be used as d screening method for full admission by the school

after much talk the point system will not be use. since no exam there might be departmental cut off mark this year

the new jamb guideline does not require any point to any grade. jamb will give out admission Uniben will conduct the screening.

i guess d method to screen students is wat they re still trying to devise........hence derez no more written exam......right or right?

screening exercise.
PLEASE NOTE: Only candidates who applied
through JAMB for UTME Admission and chose
University of Benin as First Choice and scored
200 and above are eligible for this Screening
Exercise.Data of applicants is already available as they have paid for the exams before.but candidates would be required to log into the schools portal to update some valid data.They are expected to fill in the spaces for their registration number and full name.candidates examination date appears immediately after this is done.
Candidates should go back on-line on 20th July,
2016 to check for the Day, Venue and Time for
the Screening
NOTE that GSM phones and calculators are NOT
allowed.
Candidates are equally advised to come to the
screening venue with their JAMB Original result
Slip that bears their passport Photograph.
NOTE:Departmental cut offs will be released after d screening and the oral interview,jamb scores and o/level results will have specific percentages of d total score allocated to them.

There is a RUMOUR on social media about an UPDATE on University of Benin Admission Screening Exercise. This is to INFORM us that as at the time of filling this report, the MANAGEMENT of University Of Benin through the office of the UNIBEN PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER said ''THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN MANAGEMENT HAS NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE COMMENCEMENT AND DATE OF UNIBEN ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE". Therefore any INFO contrary to this should be DISCARDED as we await the FINAL DECISION of the MANAGEMENT.
However, let's be inform that the UNIBEN PART-TIME FORM is out and currently on sales. Interested applicants should visit the UNIBEN WEBSITE for more details.

JAMB Denies Introducing New Admission Policy7/09/2016 11:54:00 AMThe Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has distanced itself from media reports that it imposed the Point System Option (PSO) on higher institutions as the new admission guidelines for 2016 admission processes.Distancing itself from such report, the examination body described it as a figment of the imagination of its proponents.Speaking with Saturday Telegraph , the Head of JAMB’s Media and Information Unit, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the examination body at no point made such a recommendation.He noted that a section of the media had only scooped the information from a presentation to some education stakeholders by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, which was posted on the examination body’s website.This is even as he added that as against the report, JAMB would no longer issue any admission letter to any candidate but would ensure that the three admission pillars of Merit, Catchment Area and the Education Disadvantaged Areas must be observed by all the higher institutions across the country.He said: “It is irresponsible for any media to have creditedany information that did not emanate from JAMB to us. JAMB did not create any new admission guidelines. Some people just went to our website to pick a document which was presented to a session of stakeholders comparing various admission systems by different institutions.“No university or polytechnic is instructed by JAMB to adopt such a policy. In fact, we won’t issue admission letter any longer as the Minister has mandated us.“What we are to do is to provide admission list and album to the institutions and ensure that the 45 per cent for merit; 35 per cent for catchment area and the 20 per cent for education disadvantaged areas, are observed to the letter. The universities are to issue admission letters individually.”
