hello everyone, pls I need some genuine advice here...I got a job for the position of security personnel through a security company but I was told I may be posted to a bank, supermarket, hospital or even church..I actually considered this job because of the frustration I go through daily while staying home and doing nothing since finishing NYSC 2015. I need advice from people who had once been in my shoes how it is and if its really worth it...I mean how one can climb the ladder from being a security officer to been gainfully employed in the office by the client organisation and build a better career. thanks and hope to see your advice

Get to work with your shoulders high, dress neatly not just like the ordinary security man, be nice and polite to everyone, you could meet a big shot at the gate as guest.

Never let the nature of the job affect your self esteem, show them that you are worth more than a gate man.if you have opportunities to attend general meetings, express yourself, suggest innovative ideas.

After 3 months if none of the staffs picks interest in you, you may need to begin viral networking, firstly among the employees that you are close to, then Admin, hr, helpdesk, PA, get to know internal vacancies and apply.

If they don't give you oppportunity, keep copies of your cv's in office and target guest that visit the firm

Oo boy I know how that feels, I am still a security guard it been hard finding another job u get used to it because u see ur mates who are graduates I guess that's what Nigeria has turned us to. My advice don't hide urself but instead start looking for things u can do don't self pity urself and don't put hope in thinking if u tell ppl u are a graduate they will help you. Start thinking of what business u can start with say 200,000 it's not easy anywhere.

Security job in itself isn't a bad job, but every job in Nigeria is bad just like the police work.
There's a difference between a certificate and education, you have been certified by an institution, now educate yourself about the job: when pple sees your education, they will tke you to where ur certification is needed.

I am at wrk know. I am on duty men u always find time though I am in a hotel it planning to get another posting because wrk here is too stressful.
