Typical ! So the phone now belongs to him.
This may appear minor , but How can we build a country like that?
If i were the person that picked the phone there are nine chances out of ten that i may return the phone (i've done it b4 so i don't see it as a big deal) but is not every Nigerian that is thinking like that besides the bad economy under the so called "change" has made some people to bearly meet up to two square meal a day, now tell me if a man that bearly feeds properly twice a day picks the phone, so do you expect him to return the phone? Believe you me, from the text message you can be able to define that man, if things were good with him am 80% sure he will gladly return the phone without even asking for anything in return...

Hope i made some sense here wink

That phone cannot belong to him simply beacause he is poor. It belongs to someone else and the right thing is to return it, period.

Op, someone pick up a lost phone and you call him a thief? Go pick $1000 wey somebody lost if they will brand you a thief. undecided
So according to you , if you pick anything on the floor it automatically belongs to you even if the "rightful" owner comes back to claim it saying he/she misplaced it accidentally. Another way to look at it is like this - you lose all rights/ownership to anything once you drop it.

Where did we lose our moral compass as a people? huh huh huh huh You saw a phone that is not yours, the owner called you, and you refuse to return it. Majority of comments on this thread affirming the behaviour of the man not returning it. I mean what is wrong with an average nigerian? huh huh huh

I'm not saying it automatically belongs to me, what I'm saying is that why brand him a thief? He or she accidentally misplaced it does not mean is stolen. SMMFHBFY (shaking my mother f**king head back for you)

Picking it may not necessarily brand him a thief but refusing to return it to the rightful owner after the owner has made several attempts to get it back from him is stealing.
