There's usually a plastic plug to cover such holes in a car. I don't know what it looks like. Get a competent upholstery/panel beater to have a look. But prior to this, there's a long drain pipe that leads to that part of the car, ensure you flush it properly to remove any blockage therein.

Better still, you can take a picture & upload it here, so you can be well advised in carrying out the fix.

For your thermostat, a competent mechanic should be able to reverse it.

4th pix is the dash board that displays "check engine"

I noticed that the floor also drips water. I just hope that the cleaning will handle all.

Its not just cleaning, you need to clear the left drainage. I have circled the point in your attached picture.

On your check engine light, one of assorted issues could trigger it. Scan the car for a confirmation.

Thanks so much. I did as you said and the problem was rectified. You saved me from the hands of welders and electricuians who were busy diagonising one thing or the other. Thanks so much. I have not been around for 2 weeks now and that delayed this reply.
