TheNewIbadan:
Does this Osu think every company in China is China owned or every US company is American owned?

Is that why your governors are begging for foreign investment?

Yorubaland is more economically viable than the erosive region. Foreign businesses don't set up companies in jungles.
This is why foreign people coke to Yoruba land to take over including igbo

They declare anything as profits and pay you the tax and push back the commensurate profit home

Majority of firms like 90℅ in China are Chinese
Majority of firms like 95℅ in igbo land are igbo owned

Keeping the money home is impressive and important

The Yoruba man doesn't think that way apart from owambe

Why lecture this nasty afonja history

Yoruba owns more business than igbo ,Hausa put together

But Nestlé is a foreign firm making money in your land and buying your cocoa at their own price

Before you talk about Ibis owning 95% of "indystrues" in the SE, for every 1 Ibo-owned, there are 10 Yoruba owned, so congrats.

Keeping the money home lmao. Interest story from an Osu whose people are begging their traders to bring their shops back to the east.

Obviously this Osu is ignorant of American companies' impact in China. 90% owned ko.

When they beg una to travel, una go vex. Keep using Radio Biafra as your compass. That's why you're sounding lost and confused.

Igbos are opening up indigenous industries in their region, are you not ashamed? I hope you read open letter to Tinubu?

What will happen to Yoruba people if Biafra is achieved? Let me bring this home: someone passed a comment recently that he would want Biafra to become a reality because he knows the Igbo nation will survive. That comment led me to deeper introspection as I wondered if the Yorubas can truly survive. Let me cite my first example. From Oyo to Osun, Ogun to Ondo, Ekiti to Kwara and Lagos, hardly will one see any serious industry or manufacturing concern owned by a Yoruba person. I am not talking about portfolio businesses or one-man business concerns. Most industries in Oyo State are owned by the Lebanese. The native business and industry gurus who dominated the landscape – Nathaniel Idowu, Amos Adegoke, Lekan Salami, Alao Arisekola, Adeola Odutola, Jimoh Odutola, Chief Theophilus Adediran Oni and others – are all gone with no credible replacements. I’m sure you remember the tyre factory of the Odutolas and how Jimoh Odutola was even asked by the Governments of Kenya and Ghana to set up a similar factory in their countries. Chief Theophilus Adediran Oni, popularly called T.A Oni & Sons started the first indigenous construction company in Nigeria. He willed his residence, Goodwill House, to the Oyo/Western state government, to be used as a Paediatric Hospital, which is now known as T.A Oni Memorial Children Hospital at Ring Road in Ibadan. This sprawling family Estate and residence was cited on a 15acre piece of land, 65 rooms, with modern conveniences, Olympic Swimming Pool and stable for Horses, etc.

People like Chief Bode Akindele started companies like Standard Breweries and Dr Pepper Soft drink factory at Alomaja in Ibadan. Broking House built by the late Femi Johnson, an insurance magnate, still stands glittering in the mid-day sun as an epitome to a rich history that Ibadan has. The most serious and only notable Yoruba entrepreneur we have now is Michael Adenuga. I say this quite consciously because most of the other names are oil and gas barons. Most of what stood as testaments of industry in Oyo State are gone – Exide Batteries, Leyland Autos and many others. In its place are shopping malls and road side markets but no nation develops through buying and selling alone – especially when you’re not actually producing what you’re selling. Hypermarkets and supermarkets have taken over because of the need to feed our insatiable consumer-appetite and foreign tastes. In one instance, an ancient landmark in the form of a hotel was demolished to pave way for a mall. That is how low we have sunk. If our past is better than our present – if we always look back with nostalgia frequently, then there is a problem. Which way, Yoruba people? Asiwaju, I will like to also talk about the state of education in the Yoruba nation. Our education has gone to the dogs. We have a bunch of mis-educated and ill-educated young men and women roaming the streets. Ibadan, for instance, had the first University in Nigeria and the first set of research centres in Nigeria (the Forestry Research Institute, the Cocoa Research Institute (CRIN), the Nigerian Cereal Research Institute Moor Plantation (NCRI), the NIHORT (Nigerian Institute of Horticultural Research), the NISER (Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research), IAR&T (Institute of Agriculture, Research and Training), amongst several others). Ibadan was the bastion of scholarship with people like Wole Soyinka, JP Clark, D.O Fagunwa and Amos Tutuola as residents. In the May/June 2015 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, Abia came tops. Anambra came 2nd while Edo was 3rd. Lagos placed 6th while Osun and Oyo was 29th and 26th. Ekiti was 11th, Ondo State was 13th and Ogun State was 19th. In 2013 WASSCE, only Lagos and Ogun States were the Yoruba States above the national average. If we do an analysis of how Lagos placed 6th in 2015, you will discover that it was substantially because of other nationalities resident in Lagos. For proof, please look no further than the winners of the Spelling Bee competition which has produced One-Day Governors in Lagos State. Since inception in 2001, other nationalities have won the competition six times (Ebuka Anisiobi in 2001, Ovuwhore Etiti in 2002, Abundance Ikechukwu in 2006, Daniel Osunbor in 2008, Akpakpan Iniodu Jones in 2011 and Lilian Ogbuefi in 2012). Sir, there is something seriously wrong about our state of education. From the vintage times of Obafemi Awolowo who initiated ‘free education’, we have regressed into a most parlous state.

We have abandoned the farm settlement strategy of the Western Region and only pay lip service to agriculture. Instead of feeding others like we once did, others now feed us. We plant no tomatoes, no pepper and the basic food that we require. The Indians have bought the large expanse of water body that we have in Onigambari village. The water body in Oke Ogun of Oyo State can provide enough fish to feed the whole of the South West. From being a major cocoa exporter many years ago, one can point to just a few vestiges of factories that still deal with Cocoa in the Yoruba nation. 80% of Cocoa processing industries in the South West have been shut down. The Chinese have taken over the cashew belt at Ogbomoso in Oyo State. They have even edged out the indigenes as brokers. They now come to the cashew belt to buy from the local farmers, sell on the spot to other Chinese exporters who now process the cashew nuts and import them back into Nigeria at a premium. Sir, there are only 7 major cashew processing plants in Nigeria and you can check out the ownership. The glory has departed from the Yoruba nation. Our youth which we used to take pride in are largely a mass of unemployed and unemployable people. Have you noticed the abundance of street urchins, area boys, touts and ‘agberos’ that we now have all across the Yoruba nation? Have you noticed the swell in the ranks of NURTW (I mean no disrespect to an otherwise noble union)? Have you noticed the increase in the number of Yoruba beggars? There was a time that it was taboo for a Yoruba man to beg – but no more. The spirit of apprenticeship is dead. There was a time that people who learn vocational skills celebrate what we referred to as ‘freedom’. While that is largely moribund now in the Yoruba nation, the Igbos still practice it with great success .

No body dey jealous una, you guys have major problem to contend wif? I hope you guys are read for Hausas in West, they know the reason why choose west, while Yoruba leaders are clamoring for regional government, northers vehemently oppose it.
Sometimes I wonder how they think

They are never logical

Just look at how they are jumping up and down for chocolate and biscuit factory which can easily be owned and opened by one of them if they think

Nestlé a foreign firm. Will buy their cocoa at their own price ,pay their wards their own determined wage then pay tax on what they declare as profit then buy their lands at a give away price and finally take back the profits back to their country

Now the question is who is the looser and gainer here

Is it Nestlé or the Ogun

Nestlé Waters opens new factory in Nigeria

Abaji, Nigeria – 14 April 2016 Today, Marco Settembri, Executive Vice President Nestlé S.A. and Head of Nestlé Waters, officially opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Abaji in Nigeria, alongside Dharnesh Gordhon, Managing Director of Nestlé Nigeria plc, and Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The 5.6 billion naira (approximately CHF 25 million) Abaji factory complex will create 111 new jobs and produce Nestlé Pure Life, the world’s largest bottled water brand. It will be Nestlé Waters’ second and most modern water processing facility in Central and West Africa, complementing the existing Agbara factory in the Ogun State. Its 14.6-hectare site in the Abuja Federal Capital Territory will support future demand and growth in the northern and western regions of Nigeria. It will also host a Technical Training Centre to develop young engineers’ skills.

Marco Settembri emphasized the contribution of Nestlé Waters to healthy hydration: “We are committed to helping people lead healthier lives as water is surely the best way to fulfil daily hydration needs. Our goal is to provide families in Nigeria and all around the world with an affordable and convenient daily healthy hydration solution.”

Dharnesh Gordhon underlined Nestlé’s firm commitment to the development of Nigeria: “Our Company has been present in Nigeria for 55 years. We are committed to continue to bring significant value to society through local sourcing, the creation of jobs and by offering high-quality, nutritious foods and beverages to the Nigerian population.”

Nestlé is committed to working with the local communities where it operates to create opportunities for them and help improve their livelihoods. Nestlé Waters engages in various water stewardship programs to ensure the sustainability of the shared water aquifers and raise awareness on water access and conservation. It supports international non-governmental organization, Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), to help teachers raise awareness about water conservation and proper hydration among schoolchildren. In Nigeria, 6,000 schoolchildren in 115 schools in the Lagos and Osun states followed the program in 2016. This will be expanded to 25 schools, 100 teachers and 2,500 pupils in Abaji this year.

Osu, what's Yoruba private businesses got to do with paying civil servants salaries.

Ibos, when you display your envy for Yorubas, you often don't think.

Ibo states, even Anambra self, owes salaries.

The SE region is so backwards that it needs to align with an oil region to feel a sense of progress.

Private businesses pay tax and in a robust economy paying civil servant taxes won't be a big deal because of derivatives from private businesses and taxation system

Thank me for this lecture

This is why Ibos don't go about hating Kano or Abuja. They'd rather hate on Ogun.

Add Lagis to the SW and I'll take you serious. Lagos is situated in Enugu abi?

These Yoruba businesses in Lagos are inconsequential? cheesy https://www.nairaland.com/3228779/hidden-truth-igbo/3#47583775

Go sleep. Flat head republic with its high poverty cannot touch SW's progress.
I thought all western states are more economic viable than land of erosion grin, why not replicate the same in your rotten rusted roof states, leave no mans land out of our discussion, east, north and south contributes more than west in Lagos, soon North will host biggest refinery in no mans land, we all are developing Lagos, better focus on Ibadan, Lagos has gone to Igbos, Hausas, Ijaws, Lebanese etc.

Why not leave them in that utopia that they gave the most robust economy

It is for our own good

It will keep them in sleeper mode while we make inroads in their economy and retains ours

Pls let's praise them

Osu, so why is Abia, Abia and Anambra owing salaries?

The "Industrualized" region with no large scale industries to show for it.

Iboland, second to the North in retrogression.

Leave Lagos out of what? Lmaoooo.

Lol when Osus can replicate what Ogun and Lagos are doing, I'll take y'all serious. This forced union with SS won't develop your region.

The region with the highest neo-drug trade - moving from trading to drug dealing.

Why won't you hate that Ogun is stepping up its game?
