APC Inner Caucus Plots Ekweremadu’s Fall by hilltop93(m): 1:32am On Jul 31, 2016
They argued that Ekweremadu would use his position to further entrench the Peoples Democratic Party, if they allowed him to remain A leading party member from the zone, who asked not to be named for fear of retribution said, "We are not ignorant, we know that the new Senator from our zone, being a green horn and the only one, cannot unseat Ekweremadu."We will be willing to trade him in for a grade ministry and a choice committee.

A chieftain of the party and member of the South-East caucus, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said, "To be honest we candidly advise Ekweremadu to step down for our brother, Sen. Ben Uwajumogu."His first excuse for usurping the APC's slot was to represent Ndigbo.

"The party will come up with several options and at that point in time, the replacement will surely come from the party. Nobody will move against the party. The party will liaise with us and we will all agree." Another member of the APC caucus, who spoke to Sunday PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said the ruling party was banking on the Senate Standing Rules forgery case to remove Ekweremadu.

He said it was then that the APC senators who voted for Saraki and Ekweremadu, which was against the choice of the party, would fall back to the side of the party.

He said, "The real Standing Rule says that if there is a division, everybody will stand up and declare where they stand. How can you then stand before the camera and vote against your party?"No APC senator will stand up and vote against the party openly on live TV. At that state, every lawmaker must stand up and declare where they stand and who they are voting for.

"We advise them against this I'll advised venture because the Senate is a bipartisan Senate and they are free by law to elect their leaders." Speaking in a similar vein, Mazi Bismarck Oji, Exec Director, Centre for the Advancement of Literacy and Leadership said people like the Imo State governor who are championing the cause to remove the DSP are wasting their time.

The brainy Prof and former VC from Imo was even made a junior Minister to someone that does not hold a PhD. "There's no service Chief from South East and South East has nobody in the Security Council. In fact, Rochas is making all these noise to drawn or divert attention from the protests over the quality of election that produced the APC Senator elect. For 99 percent of SE, a bird in hand is worth more than a billion in bush.

Ekeremadu has not made any impact in the legislature since the time he has been Deputy Senate President. More than 9 years now.

Or do you know of his achievements to his community, state and country all those years?

Without hating, I sincerely will like to see another name and face on that seat. I would have loved for APC to put their choice candidates on that seat so that they won't have excuse at the end of this legislative term.

Presently, the current legislature has not achieved anything worth praising and you can't morally blame APC/PDP for it. Let's have a clear cut party in leadership, so that we can know who to blame.

It is either Saraki decamps to the PDP, and we all know it is the PDP in charge of the senate, or Ekeremadu steps down for an APC candidate.

They can meet from now till 2019.Ike Ekweremadu will remain the DSP till 2019 whether the APC likes it or not.

The economy is in shambles and all these fools are thinking about is how to remove Ekweremadu!! Gosh!!

When you are the Deputy Senate President ffor 8 years, your constituency has changed from the enclave he come from to the whole country.

How come, you decided to be hyperventilating instead of showing his achievements to his state and country??

Does that mean he does not have any achievement to brandish as a Deputy Senate President for 9 years and counting

Thank God, the candidate they are pushing forward as his replacement is an Igbo man. If not, I know folks like u will already be screaming that they want to marginalise the Igbos and the campaign to unseat him is hate related.

Our politicians are too desperate and it stems from followership.

Let Ekeremadu willingly step down, so that APC can have their own from the SE on the seat. He was DSP for 8 years under the PDP leadership, let him come and champion the PDP course when they are fully in control.

As the case is now, the senate may just remain in a confused state till the end of their tenure to the detriment of the country.

Another good option is for Saraki to decamp to the PDP. And let it be clear cut that it is the opposition that is control of the senate.

It's quite simple and doesn't call for hyperventilation.

Nobody both in the Executive and legislative arm of this government has made any positive impact to the common made. So Ekweremadu can not be singled out on this, except if you are suggesting that all of them including the President should step down. Then I will buy your idea.

My point is, APC is fully in charge of the executive and can be validly blamed for non-performance at that level.

At the legislature you can't correctly say APC is responsible for the shortcomings there as they are not fully in control.

Let either party be fully in control of the legislature so that blames can be appropriately apportioned.
