My 1996 model of Toyota Camry (Orobo) now consumes fuel at an alarming rate even wen compared to a V6 engine car. Plz what could be the cause? |

On most 1996 models of your car here in nigeria (Just like ive seen), it depends on the amount of repairs that it may have had in the hands of the Kazzeemms. If it had blown a top gasket in the past, then most likely, it has double gaskets which increases the engine cylinder displacement which will inadvertently lead to higher fuel consumtion. Other things like thermostat removal and wiring the fan directly to run continuosly as well as oxygen sensors that no longer work and airflow meters that have been adjusted could add up to a whole more list of uneconomical fuel consumtion in your car. Catalytic converters that have been gouged out, exhaust pipes that have been welded rather than changed, bad injector nozzles and widened spark plug gaps are part of a plethora of high fuel consumption consequences. harsh acceleration and over speeding could also be attributed. Better still, take your car in to a good auto tech to check it properly for you. 2 Likes |
