Sister , the latest I've heard is that a Sports Ministry official said the team will depart 'soon'; that the payment for the flight was paid into an account which didn't reflect immediately.

I hate heartbreak oo, I hope my hope will not be wasted. the people I have "hope" for haven't even arrived and competition has started.

The latest update on the U-23 Dream Team is that they are now at the airport.
Their flight to Brazil will be a 10-hour journey

now, the Dream Team will depart Atlanta on Thursday morning, and arrive in the afternoon in Manaus, Brazil. It will be a 7-hour flight.

So, the Siasia and his boys will only arrive in Manaus 7 hours before kickoff.

I predicted this will be the worst olympics for Nigeria in a long time. I still stand by that. We are sending 75 athletes, it seems like 75 also rans.

Corruption has eaten so deep into Nigeria that corrupt officials are unwilling to compromise even when there is no money to be stolen. They will rather embarass the nation than do what is right.

The government released money for olympics long enough. The money was substantially smaller than previous years. The money should be enough to have a good olympics, but will leave very little for the corrupt officials to eat from. Rather than apply the money straight to the olympics, the officials prefer to embezzle that money and leave Nigerian athletes stranded all over the world. If not for Regina George and Seye Ogunlewe who started embarassing the AFN, the athletes would have had to buy the ticket to Rio on their own!
This olympics will be the turning point, and I expect plenty to get sacked after the olympics.

Nigeria has no serious medal prospects out of the 75. I will not be following the olympics as I used to do. Thankfully the EPL is starting.

I believe she's a medal hopeful, provided she gets a favourable draw......
okagbare can win medals in this tournament, if she chooses her events well.....
IMO, she should forget the 100m, her start is always poor; rather she should focus on the long jump n 200m, she's more competitive in the latter 2.

and of course, let's not forget our footballers. They are strong favourite.

spot on!! You know what's up I told my people odunayo is the only medal hope we have and if olympic spirit enters her she can get a silver. I also studied the 4by400 girls they were very above average too and had better chance to pull off something spectacular too bad they were DQ'ed, the rest ehn let me not say anything as anything is actually possible. And the football boys might be lucky sha

I also watched the cherika lady yesterday and she's actually good but I can't reaLly tell if she was tired at the end or she wanted to rest for quarterfinals, I am also working on some permutations and calculations on her chances

Racheal Tonjor goes next in the 100m breaststroke swimming. I havent seen many Nigerian in Olympic swimming. Unique.
