God does not need the sun, moon, and stars to
provide light. God is light! First John 1:5
declares, "This is the message we have heard
from him and declare to you: God is light; in
Him there is no darkness at all." God Himself
was the light for the first three days of
Creation, just as He will be in the new heavens
and new earth, “There will be no more night.
They will not need the light of a lamp or the
light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them
light. And they will reign for ever and
ever” ( Revelation 22:5 ). Until He created the
sun, moon, and stars, God miraculously provided
light. God is infinite and omnipotent he knew there will be evening and morning even before creating the the sun, moon and stars. NOTE: There has always been darkness upon the face of the earth Gen1:2. The separation btw God's light and the darkness is what he called morning and evening.

Thanks but still don't really get it... Yeah God is light according to John's gospel.... Is God also darkness? Kk he was light in the morning so what happened in the evening?

And a very sensitive point u made... Darkness was always on the face of the earth... Before God declared light... So did God create darkness first... Or darkness existed before God....

Look closely bro..There has always been darkness on the surface of the earth Gen1:2. Until God said:let there be light. God separated his light from this darkness for the first 3 days, and he called his light morning and the darkness he called evening. But when he created the sun, moon and stars, on the fourth, he said let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years. Gen 1:14

If only ursef could be convinced by ur response.... Dat portion clearly shows as u have said dat there has always been darkness even before God created light... Did God create d darkness.... Or it existed even before God.. #and the spirit of God hovered over the waters... It also seems dat Dia was also water existing which God didn't create. He only separated the waters from d ground...

Not like i just want to be a criticizer of d Bible but don't u see Dia are more inconsistencies Dan not in it

Without disproving or approving of your assertion lets try to think this through in a very simple way.

Say, after he created the sun, moon and stars, he had to command them and and basically tell them.when to "operate", they didn't have knowledge on their own. Essentially 24 hours isn't what the sun says it is but God put it there to aid humans.

Time isn't dependent on your watch, regardless of whether you have a watch or not time still moves but this example relates with man. Same way God has no need of sun and moon to tell time, he had a sense of time and "programmed" them to fit it.

Hope it's clear.

There is no reason to assume the Bible is in error when it seems to say that God created the light before He made the sun. There are a number of satisfactory explanations to this question.

It is unfortunate that this concept is often used to make the Bible seem to contradict itself.

However, contrary to popular belief, the Bible doesn't waste words.

The fact that God tells us how many days, also gives us time periods; in other words, God began to measure time cycles (such as day and night) before the sun ever appeared.
Furthermore, there is no need to try to explain it away as "ancient philosophies". The Bible was written under inspiration of the one who created everything, therefore, it's kind of hard to argue with Him (no joke intended).

He said first, let there be light. Then according to the Bible he separated darkness from the light. This doesn't have anything to do with a sun/moon cycle, but rather with light and darkness, and time periods.

The ambiguity is intentional, it seems, but it is trying to say that light isn't the sun, but that the sun is a particular carrier of light. No clearer way to show this than to explain that light - and day and night - exist before the sun and moon.

Hmmmm, but don't we have night and day BECAUSE of the sun (not necessarily the moon)
