Ribadu In Danger: Is Nigeria Worth Dying For? by xheggs(op): 10:17am On Aug 11, 2008
Last week was a big one for fraudsters, crooks and rogues in Nigeria. In fact, the federal government must have forgotten to officially declare it the "National Rogues Week" and allow criminals a free rein throughout the week. For, one of the nation's greatest nemesis of criminals, Nuhu Ribadu, was demoted after his accelerated promotions for diligence and hard work in the last four years. He was demoted two steps down.
Former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, yesterday expressed concern over the safety of former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who he said was in grave danger.

Musa, who was reacting to the recent demotion of Ribadu from an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), by the Police Service Commission, noted that the former EFCC chairman knows too much about corrupt, powerful and influential people, some of who are still in government and are out to settle scores with him.

Ribadu, he said, "is in grave danger in the hands of these people and he will have to be careful how he handles his current predicament."

Musa who charged public office holders to draw a lesson from what is happening to Ribadu added that Ribadu might suffer the same fate with Major Al-Mustapha, who, he said, was being kept in prison all these years because he knows too much about some powerful people in this country.

Analysing the circumstances surrounding the demotion, the former governor noted that administratively, one of two things happened: either those 140 officers demoted along with Ribadu were axed for a good reason or it was decided that Ribadu should be included. He pointed out that either way, the objective was to demote Ribadu, and in order to hide it from being seen as an open witch-hunting, those other 40 officers were included.

This is what u get for patriotism in Nigeria.though admitedly Ribadu may have had his failings but don't we all do.This is a man who worked tirelessly to cleanse the system but eventually got swallowed by the system. So much for uprightness.I sense some complicity with the presidency.Yar Adua cannot feign ignorance,he must be in the know. The nxt tyme i hear somebody talking abt doing smthin for this country on this forum bilali lazi we're going to have serious issues.

Landis,
u sound genuine.
ribadu was to obj what mustafa was to abacha.
he is a learned man, if he feels humiliated, let him seek redress in any of our law courts.
nobody is surposed to be above the law.
he is a product of an institution(the nigerian police) that operates with a lead down roles and regulations so he shld act based on that as long as he belongs there.
if his promotion is not the force, it may be made in uttah farm so let him go where he belongs to(utah farm).
the man is a cheat.
if he could overlook govs of rich states like lagos and rivers for a poor state like abia just for the oposition sake, then he has some explaination to make to nigerians.
