Which Loot Is Bigger Than This? by Pidggin(op):
Giving away an oil rich area like Bakassi to Cameroon at no cost. Oil rich land that could have earned Nigeria trillions of dollars was given away for free by a Yoruba man.

This is the greatest loot ever.

Of course I have but it wasn't tangible enough. No consideration was given to the inhabitants of the land and their heritage. He didn't even consider its oil wealth and the impact it would have on our economy later. It was a hasty decision made and today we have to consider how wealthy we would have been with Bakassi oil

Too bad

Which loot is more than this?
The land didn't belong to Nigeria according to the previous agreements they've had - which is a tangible reason.
It would hav been rather unwise of Nigeria(obasanjo) to engage in a combat after being fully aware of the court ruling and the UN who were fully in support of the judgement . The war would be Nigeria vs WORLD.
You nd obasanjo knows that's suicide grin

And thirdly , considerations were given to the inhabitants o angry. They never sent them packing or destroyed their homes . They enjoy the same rights as every cameroonian.

So it's a case of "take back ya land jejelly o, ano want wahala"

Did you say Bakassi was originally owned by Cameroonhuh?

So why did Gowon (Hausa man) give it to Cameroon to stop food entering the East? Bakassi has always been owned by Nigeria

The people are Fishermen/women but after their land was ceded they were given an area without any Rivers to live in, do you call this adequate compensation?

Obj would be in jail in a sane country. The giveaway of Bakassi was not only hasty, it was very dubious and treacherous.
