Rain Fell For 2hours And This Happened In Port Harcourt

Flood over took RD road off okoporo road in port Harcourt just after only 2 hours of rain today. The government should come to the aid of thie people living here as there is no working drainage system coupled with bad road. This road is even behind the fence of shell residential area this company can also be of help.

Okay.

There is a reason the State is called "Rivers State"

One thing the pictures show, is that there is no drainage system in the Street.

. . .And to even think that these states have be collecting 13% derivation fund, ecological funds etc

I wonder what these governors both past and present have been doing with all the funds been allocated to them!!!!

Nigerians are the problem... The moment we start dragging out these politicians and burning them like common criminals they are, the better for us as a nation

Op keep on blocking your drainage systems with biscuit papers and other hard materials and expect the road not to be flooded after rain.

What is the OP complaining about? The water disappears immediately the rain stops and under the water is a well paved road, not like your car will get stuck or something.

RD road has been like that for more than 25 years. Successive governments have been paving and repaving the road and oyes it has functional drainage. The main issue is that the drainage empties into a canal right inside Shell RA which Shell used a kind of filter at there boundary to prevent garbage from entering the canal. Since Nigerians generally like dumping refuse in the drainage the filter is frequently blocked which leads to flooding.

I think it happens like this in at least 70% of all the states in Nigeria. We urgently need upgraded infrastructure.

That's because LAGOS is surrounded by water and all this petty trader who block drainages just to build their kiosks also those hawkers and uncivilized things who empty their dirts inside gutters

They hardly do drinage in port harcourt, they so much want to gain from sales of land that they cancelled space for drinage, I have never see any street road in PH with gutter, even some major roads have no gutter, their big men usually go for jeep after stealing public fund and they will blame buhari for this too!

One of the reason I don't like that town, salt water will make your car rust fast
