Nigeria military used to recover cows,sheeps and goats but they are yet to arrest any of the FULANI HERDS MEN killing and causing mayhem to FARMERS, what a shame a country where the life of cows is more important than the citizens. The airforce is now tasked with recovering stolen cattle and sheep, the DSS now guard pipelines and arrest lawmakers trying to impeach a corrupt governor and the Army are now the aide d camps and escorts for fulani herdsmen. Reason they got themselves killed in droves by untrained civilians in Niger state coz instead of em to train they use such time roaming the bushes, harassing fulani target communities, and taking their arms for self protection.

Where are those APC sai buharists? Someone please Cc them cos I can't seem to find any of em here.

But considering the votality of the polity surrounding these herdsmen issue now, the war in the NE, the resumption of Militancy in the ND and other pocket crisis here and there, don't you feel this is a misplaced priority? What is the work of the police and the civil defense?

The police is the appropriate authority bordering around civil law, and it's the job of the armed forces to protect our territorial integrity!

Security as some have pointed out above involves protection of lives and properties. And for your information the worth of 600 cows is over N60M . That is a whole lot. None of the posters above will loose a tenth of that to armed robbers and not want the full might of the Nigerian Armed Forces to be deployed to recover their money.

Let's be less self centered in our thoughts, this is the way to move our nation forward.

Most times people rush to conclusions without simple analytical thinking surrounding events. Probably because the herdsmen have no access to the media, their plight hardly got any coverage and believe me criminals have turned to fulani and non fulani cattle owners as cash cows destroying entire villages and rustling away their herds. But when the fulani stage their own return match they do it disproportionately. So people should atleast analyze things and to me the best solution is the ranches. This is because with population growth and desertification, available fertile land is becoming scarce thus frequent clashes BTW the two

What are they doing in that region to combat the issue of desertification?

Are they doing anything to slow down population growth or do they still insist on having an average of six children per woman?

The herdsmen and Fulanis, the rustlers are Fulanis, what concerns Igbos, Yorubas, Ijaws or Deltans . Why are we suffering reprisal attack from herdsmen ? What justification do they have killing over 300 people in Agatu, over 40 in Enugu and many others all over ?
Btw, do you know how many farm lands have been destroyed by their cattles ? Let these herdsmen provide ranches for themselves.

Is it not becoming obvious with this huge amount of cattle recovered from these rustlers that they, the rustlers, are the ones attackin those villages now to the average farmer seeing them with their cattles they are herdsmen. So this operation is really needed because it seems the activities of these rustlers have been going on unchecked.
