Hello house, does anyone know how long it actually takes after dropping off passport at vfs and getting it back. I just want to know if this vacation is still possible. Thank you.

I read online that you should allow around 10 business days or 2 weeks. My own vacation have passed so am believing i'll still get it by God's grace so that i can combine it with my next year's vacation trip to uncle sam's.

The new processing time is only applicable to those who made their applications on the 9th August. with applicants' experience in recent times, online application is damn too slow. A lot of factors could be responsible for this delay though. If you submitted your documents online chances are, you won't do biometrics until a day or 2, after you made the submission and the CIC would need to sort your application documents by matching your biometrics details to your online applications so, it takes extra effort and time to do this because it's not automatic. Don't also forget that many applicants would have sent the CIC emails within the period you applied and biometric taken. CIC won't jump the queue, mails will be treated on a first come, first served basis. The number of online inquiries and applications received will also determine their response time, to your online applications. If you had applied via paper route, during which your bio details must have been collected and kept in the file jacket containing all your forms and documents with passport(s), it makes the process faster because the officer assigned to treat your case will have everything handy, without going online to be checking one after the other. That's how it works. The last time I applied, I took extra effort to go to vfs lekki to avoid needless delays. I could have done it online from the comfort of my office but I didn't do this.Within 3 weeks, I was already done with everything. Maybe you should give paper route a try next time. If you read the previous posts too, you'd see that those who applied via paper route got their visas within same peroid of 3 weeks. I've even seen 6 days. Please send CIC an email, requesting an update of your application, quoting all the quotables on the subject of your email for fast treatment. Good luckiest.

this entirely wrong. your biometric details are updated on there website and on your page. you get an email from vfs the same day your biometric is done or the next informing that your biometric has been updated. CIC will also let you know your profile has been updated

Oga, is VFS same as CIC?. I'm concerned about CIC here and not VFS. Read the portion of my comment that you highlighted for more. VFS would only acknowledge the receipt of your biometric details and that doesn't mean the CIC has done the matching same day...and if the CIC sends you an email on your biometric, it will NEVER be same day you did your biometrics at vfs because the latter will have to transmit your biometric to the CIC first, electronically before they(CIC) can send you their own acknowledgement . This is based on my experience and that of many here and I stand to be corrected on this. I won't argue with you but it's very wrong for you to just say one is entirely wrong when you don't seem to understand how some things work. At least I've been issued TRV visas more than 4 consecutive times in the past and I've tried both the paper route and the online applications, same as my siblings and cousins. We share experience based on the kind of emails and information they receive from CIC when they make enquiries about their delayed applications. I have 2 of them who are already studying there. If you don't understand something, you simply ask questions. Nobody also knows it all so, it is not enough to just condemn a vital information provided by someone else and say it's entirely wrong. In most cases, I decline to reply to comments like yours because of this 'I too know mentality' but I think it's important I let you know this too. Thank you.

after sending numerous mails to cic by my cousin, they finally reply though they have been replying that his application is in a queue pending review but he kept sending mails because his application is almost 79days gone.....he even asked them to withdraw his application that he's fed up because his leave period has passed and he's not likely to get another leave this year that means cic has cost him the opportunity to travel, so they eventually reply that 'we acknowledged the receipt of your mail.
is there possibility that they will review his application soon?

He shouldn't withdraw his application. After all, he's been waiting all the while. If he deserves a visa, the ECO won't deny him simply because the time he's supposed to travel has passed. He will be issued a visa and may be lucky to get 2 years, which may enable him travel next year to enjoy his leave in canada.

Yours is quite amazing. My experience and that of a couple of applicants shared was quite different. Mine took 3 days after I applied before I could hear from them. Funny enough, I did it during the week, not Friday. If you indeed experienced this, then kudos to CIC. That's a sign of improvement on their part because it's always been a challenge to many. Pls did you experience this of late? Share your thoughts so others too can also benefit. That's the essence of this forum. Enjoy your day!

Thanks Solestar.
Applied 12th April online. Biometrics on the with.

Sent CSE July then I emailed Accra 3rd August. Got passport request 4th and submitted 5th August.

Tracked yesterday,11th and saw that passport was ready for collection. Didn't spend up to 10 minutes at vfs to drop passport and pick up as well.

why are you going down the insult lane for saying what you typed in what i bolded is entirely wrong? is it a crime or a sin to criticize you? and what does your family history have to do with this?? because you have gotten a canadian visa, does that make you the head of cic management if you were patient enough to read what i typed, you would see i was referring to your CIC account.. i mentioned vfs because that's where you go to do biometrics isn't it? before you do you biometrics, what is written under biometric section in your application status in your cic account? isn't it "applicant need to update biometric details"? and after you do your biometrics and vfs updates you about it, cic sends you an update email about your application, the biometrics sections in your cic account is updated to "not needed at this time"..And that is because they don't need to do a background check on you for now but they have your biometrics details and it as been attached to your application. if you don't have anyother meaningful thing to say asides insults for criticising the info you have given, end the conversation abeg.

There is no harm in trying after all it's been more than the required days. All the best.
