tolulakin:The Olusegun Obasanjo administration restarted the project in 2002, but did not get to award the building contract. The Musa Yar'adua government that followed undertook a review and made little progress on the project; the Jonathan administration made little headway. The German consulting firm Lahmeyer started work at the site in 2005 and did extensive engineering studies. It was replaced in March 2011 by a new project consultant, Coyne et Bellier of France. Between 2004 and 2006 tenders were placed and bids were received for Lot 1, which was the civil and hydraulic segment. CGC/CGGC won the lot 1 tenders in 2006 but while Lot 3 was advertised, it was never awarded. In November 2012, it was reported that government signed a contract with the Chinese firm Sinohydro to build Mambilla Power Station but the Power Ministry announced the cancellation of this contract in December 2013 More Action, Less Talk On Mambilla Hydro Project http://allafrica.com/stories/201507300970.html So please tell us why 16 years 3 PDP administration couldn't finish one single project. How is it even possible for useless jona to finish the project when funds for the project was never secured? However, reports show that part of the delay in the take-off was because the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy (CME), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was not originally in the picture of the project, a situation which had created logistical jam and resulted in the halted last minute moves to flag off the electricity project in the North East last October. http://sweetcrudereports.com/2015/02/18/mambilla-hydro-project-hits-security-logistical-snag/ The useless and incompetent people sat on their hands for 16 years, canceled the contract for the project and never touched it. Now we have money on the table to finish the project with thousands of Nigerians back on the job and earning a living.. Abeg keep quiet with that rubbish. Uncle Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Who stopped construction work on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway before and for what reason did he stop a project that was progressing quite rapidly? Abi na GEJ stop the project before?Starting from OBJ to Yaradua on to useless stealing is not corruption GEJ, common express way they could not finish even after budgeting and stealing money for the same projects.. It was learnt that the contract was stuck due to the inability of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan's administration to fund the project. Apart from the issue of funding, the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) also faulted the re-concession of the road to Julius Berger Plc and Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), despite a pending legal dispute. Though the Jonathan-led administration pledged to release N50 billion for the project in 2013 and 2014, the government was said to have provided only a guarantee to Infrastructure Bank to facilitate the release of N117 billion to Berger and RCC. The reason why the two construction giants cannot be blamed to have abandoned the project is because they have been unable to get up to N10 billion since the bank has been trying to limit its risk exposure because of the legal tussle on the project. http://allafrica.com/stories/201511300697.html Again, shut up with your nonsense... Mr Fashola knew that Nigeria was going broke before the elections when he was busy shouting 'fixing light is not rocket science'...what is taking him so long to take our generation to 20000MW?Nigeria attains electricity generation milestone of 5,000MW The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, yesterday announced that for the first time in the history of Nigeria’s electricity generation profile, the country has attained the milestone of generating about 5,074 megawatts, MW, of electricity http://dailypost.ng/2016/02/04/nigeria-attains-electricity-generation-milestone-of-5000mw/ Very ignorant rubbish. Fashola pushed it up to 5000MW because we generated over 5000MW back in February before terrorists actions in the Delta derailed our progress... Again, shut up with that nonsense... If you insist I have Uncles in the PDP, maybe you should pray to God so that you have influential Uncles too....I even need me some Uncle who has got billions in their account...clean or not clean! The PDP uncle thing must have struck a nerve and also must be guilty conscience on your part. Where is the sense and wisdom in crying today over what your looting and stealing PDP uncles refused to fix and deal with when Nigeria was rich and making $1000/PB on oil? Were they not even borrowing to pay salary when oil was $80/PB Did they not tell us to get ready to suffer when oil was $80/PB After looting and sharing $20 billion power funds, they gave us nothing but darkness after 16 years in office. After 16 years, the roads and started projects remains abandoned till the current administration. Fashola just paid our contractors, they are all back on the job, thousands of jobs are back. We have 14 new power plants coming up without looting and stealing We are 2 years away from self sufficiency in Petrol, fertilizer, petrochemicals and gas with more left to export for foreign exchange. You can lie, moan and cry till eternity, that's your problem, but we are winning and moving forward. Unpatriotic losers... |

That we all come on here and argue issues of National importance does not make anybody a loser. That we are here thrashing issues together does not mean your butt-generated common sense is superior to every other person's own! That you have some silly news to share with us that does not translate into increase in energy supply to consumers does not mean you are a better Nigerian citizen than the rest of us. And finally, that you are this insanely obsessed with Buharism does not mean you love Mr. President more than some people here who have voiced their discontent. Why call people names who have not called you names? Why in seven heavens do you think you have any moral or common sense justification to try and tongue-lash people here? Who exactly are you? I must leave this for you as a final word....the reason why Nigeria is still backward is because the youth population consists of half-brained n.itwits like yourself who are intelligently ignorant and are pushing to become future leaders in the face of their stark, self-inflicted, schooled illiteracy! ashjay001:What is superior argument? That we were doing fine when when GEJ and his gang were looting us dry while at the same time asking us to get ready for pain and suffering when oil when selling for $80.? That we were doing fine when when GEJ and his gang were looting us dry while at the same borrowing to pay salaries when oil was selling for $80? Is superior argument looting and stealing for 16 years and still gave us nothing but darkness after looting $20 billion power funds? Is superior argument budgeting funds for projects, pocketing the funds and refused to pay contractors for years till the same contractors walk off the job while laying off thousands of Nigerians? Is superior argument Jona and okonjo stealing our money and giving it to Dasuki to share with their looting and stealing friends from Metuh, to Fayose, Obanikoro, Omisore and so on ...and even for spiritual prayers.. Is superior argument wholesale and institutionalized corruption and incompetence where Jona presided over the largest government earnings in the history of Nigeria, refused to save for rainy day, refused to invest and diversify our economy and still end up borrowing billions to pay salaries? Superior argument is definitely not the corrupt mentality and basement argument you and your kind come up with. Superior argument is definitely not playing dumb with facts and acting as if Nigerians are dumb and have no clue how e get to this sorry state. Nigerians made the superior argument when they kicked your PDP uncles out of office and I dare say good riddance and if doesn't matter what you jokers say or how much you cry, those corrupt bastards are not coming back. |

tolulakin:I will chip in a little bit, i recently read that a major maintenance work was carried out on Shiroro dam to increase output close to installed capacity, similar maintenance is planned for other dams, Jebba, Kainji. But been objective, even if all these plants work at 100% installed capacity, even multiply by 2 is no where near our needs. Thus i am shocked that someone as articulate as you will say a project like Mambilla that needs at least 5 years gestation should not be a priority today. The last i saw about Egbin it was doing 1,100 MW and the last 220MW unit was under repairs before the militants struck. Transcorp was planning a 1000MW expansion to it's 700 MW Sapele plant but with militant attack they could not use the current capacity due to lack of gas, so plans shelved. Fashola cannot be responsible for lack of gas. Neither is the petroleum ministry responsible for pipeline security. Hence the focus on other power sources, coal, solar I think the smartest thing is what is going on today by building on what the last administration did with vigour making necessary adjustments and innovations to save critical time. I would have loved to give you links to back it up but i don't have the resources at the moment. |

aresssa:When you refer to a person's sincere comments as rubbish, even when he has brought the basic challenges of the common man to the fore, it goes a far distance to show us how deep an abyss your intelligence has descended into. Has he lied about the experiences of the common man? Did he lie about the fact that during the GEJ tenure, whenever such bogus figures like these were reeled, people like yourselves become local champions and attack from all angles? Did he lie about the fact that energy supply to consumers is at an all-time low when government is claiming generation is at an all-time high? Did he lie about the fact that only the rich can eat three square meals conveniently today? Did he lie about the fact that the economy is in shambles? What lies did he tell? Will the common man be lying if he tells you today that he pays for electricity he does not use? Will he be lying if he tells you he has turned into a beggar just to eat? You seem very seasoned when it comes to insulting people...but then, can we find common sense existing in a political bulldog? We thank God for the food on your table today and the convenience you feel that makes it easy for you to run your diarrhea-infested mouth...but when you find it hard to feed and you begin to share the same plight with the common man on the streets, I pray you do not launch another moniker for fear of reprimand! | Re: God Bless Buhari! by Nobody: 11:19pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
Ovamboland:Consider these facts: Kainji HEP was built at an install capacity of 760MW; Jebba HEP at 570MW; Shiroro HEP at 600MW; Egbin Thermal at 1320MW; Afam Thermal at 700MW; Sapele Thermal at 1020MW; Delta Thermal at 600MW; Ijora Thermal at 6MW; Oji River Thermal at 70MW and Ajaokuta Thermal at 600MW....these are in addition to the about 500MW IPP of the Akwa Ibom State Government in Ikot-Abasi and the IPP in Kwara (these can be excluded from my arguments). In total, our existing power plants have combined built capacity of 6246MW without the Ikot Abasi IPP and the other State-owned ones. My argument is: A sustainable policy should seek to maximize the capacity of existing infrastructure before attempting to develop new ones. Like you rightly said, Mambilla requires a five-year gestation period...this means we are not to expect an immediate contribution from that plant. But our people need immediate answers before they die under the heavy weight! If we maximally use the 6246MW we have for now with contributions from the IPPs, we would still be fine as an immediate measure. Has government stopped making short and long-term policy plans? I must also remind you, that these power plants do not give out all their generated power. It means that while you may be made to believe Egbin is doing 1000MW, what gets into distribution might not be beyond 500MW...I will not be surprised. My argument exactly is...why pursue Mambilla whose gestation period is five years when you can maximize the existing ones, solve our immediate problems and develop other stations as a long-term plan? I see misplacement of policy priorities and this might eventually lead to policy failure. It is the same way we have managed our power situation before now...when OBJ went to start Egbin while Kainji needed 5 more generators to function at built capacity! Shall we continue in this cycle of failure? This is my point that the halfwit throwing insults around is refusing to comprehend! |

You lied when you asserted that Egbin Power Station is not generating up to 1/4 its install capacity, that was a lie which I countered with documented facts. You lied when you asserted that GEJ did not stop and abandoned Lagos Ibadan expressway, but I produced facts that he did by not paying the contractors for years. You lied when you insinuated that that Fashola did not improve electricity beyond 2000MW, but I countered with facts that he pushed it up to 5000MW last February before terrorists disrupted gas flow to the power plants.. Yes, I was talking about your own lies... |

In what way have I compared this administration with the last one in my original post and subsequent comments? Did you take Use of English in school at all? We are here discussing a policy defect that has bedeviled our governance in the country for a while and you are here drooling over who is supporting stealing and corruption...what prayer do we say for you? That God heals your sight or upgrade your thoughts? I have said and will repeat...I am criticizing Fashola particularly because he came to us during the campaigns as someone who has a superior style over the previous administration. Unfortunately, he has continued the same 'abandon the old and build the new' style of governance that we have always practiced in this part of the world. I see him being no better than Imoke, Ige, Mimiko, Nebo and others who came before him. Should someone not go to learn from whoever was in charge of power generation in 1994 that helped us achieve the highest level of generation yet in our history? Then we generated 6092MW of electricity while demand was still below 3000. This is my point....you can park well with your obsession with politics now! |
| Re: God Bless Buhari! by Nobody: 8:54am On Aug 13, 2016 |
aresssa:You are obviously being fed political lies Mr document. I am talking to you from an industry and consumer point of view. Egbin has an install capacity of 1320MW...1/4 of that is 330MW, right? Let me ask you a practical mathematics question. If Egbin is generating, Kainji is very much generating, Ikot Abasi is still submitting its generation to the national grid, Shiroro is still generating and a few others....yet, our energy generation that was sustained for only 20 days in July was 3000MW and the highest we seemed to get within that period entering August was 3332MW. You can read here: http://bizwatchnigeria.ng/power-grid-sustains-3000megawatts-july/ Now, the maths is, if we have more than 7 stations supplying the National Grid, How do you substantiate claims that Egbin alone did more than 600MW in the face of the ever-running Kainji and Shiroro? If politicians feed us bogus figures, can we not think for ourselves? Nobody is lying here....we are coming from different angles and unfortunately you came with insults which disrupted intelligent discussions. You are coming at your reality from a political point of view and I am coming at mine from the industry point of view...from the energy delivery point of view! Please get your facts straight before you accuse people of lying. |

aresssa:On the Lagos-Ibadan expressway project which you claimed was stopped by GEJ, I should give people other links aside your sorry political washout news. And since you seem to think I am running from you, a response is in order: http://theeagleonline.com.ng/julius-berger-suspends-work-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway/ And, for the avoidance of doubts, the construction work was awarded under Public Private Partnership(PPP) arrangement with Motorway Assets Limited as Leasee while the ministry was the guarantor. So, how does GEJ become responsible for the stoppage when it even actually stopped in July 2015? Was he still President then? Check here: https://www.naij.com/612905-official-reveals-lagos-ibadan-expressway-project-stalled.html Again, as of May 17, 2015 which was just 12 days before Buhari was sworn in, construction work was still progressing on that same road. This means work was actually suspended under Buhari. Now, if you did not bring this issue up, I would not naturally blame Buhari for the stoppage as there are other factors that could have contributed to the hiatus. Yet, we must face the essential reality that work stopped under PMB. Another fact we must establish is that the FG is only responsible for 30% of the construction cost...so we cannot heap the blame of funding on them...that is if you have any understanding of PPPs. You can also check here: http://constructionreviewonline.com/2015/02/reconstruction-lagos-ibadan-road-nigeria-well-reconstruction/ Mr adopted-son-of-Buhari, no one is running from you here....if I stop replying you, it is because I have found close to zero decorum in your manner of arguments...you seem to be defending your source of daily bread being this emotional. if you see yourself as a nigerian for me you're a Big FOOL, i've been saying it, now it is even proven beyond reasonable doubt. RadioBiafra made it very clear that the problem in the dark continent is mostly due to a low level of IQ, in particular very apparent in the Zoo/nigeria where many of the people mainly in northern Zoo/nigeria have IQ percentually in range from 0% to 79%(debility state of condition). one does not need further explanation to come to an open conviction why in the Zoo/nigeria the simplest tasks are for the baboons/monkeys occupying that geographical space unsolvable and can be established as herculean work. arabs are demigods to some yorubas, awusas and fulanis! this might be one of the reasons why a Rapist, Child-Abuser, Paedophile, Islamic Jihadist, Brainless animal, Treasury Looter by the name buhari was voted into power...the baboons are still living in cities with open sewage system, no centralized water provision system, no roads, dirty environments, lack of refuse disposal system,...etc, these are all very simple tasks....enough said. |
| Re: God Bless Buhari! by Ovamboland(m): 7:35pm On Aug 13, 2016 |
tolulakin:Oga Tolu, you still miss my point, the 6000+ MW capacity we have today multiply by 2 is still inadequate for us to start shutting down our home generators and inverters. Reality on ground shows that putting all effort in the existing capacity only will not yield sustainable results for the following reasons: 1. The hydrodams Jebba, Kainji, Shiroro even with timely maintenance cannot operate 100% capacity year round due to natural phenomenon no minister can do anything about, water level will always rise and fall. Even the planned Mambilla will not give 100% at some time in the year but it is still good to have. 2. Gas supply from NGC has proven unreliable with militant attacks and gas fired plants is about 75% of our 6000+ capacity. If ALL efforts are geared only to existing plants, 75% of that effort might produce nothing once militancy is not yet curtailed. The position of things show a large part of the gas plants are ready to generate if gas is available today. While waiting for the gas situation to improve, the smart thing is to start looking for alternative energy sources including importation where feasible. Many countries besting us today still import a huge part of their energy source. So what is going on while dialogue is on-going with militants is to expand the Transmission capacity from the 5000 MW, sign power purchase agreement with Solar power generating plants, encourage coal fired plants to be set up (Listen to Fashola on BBC hard talk). Dangote will soon commission a coal fired power plant at Obajana and Ibeshe. Another company just obtained licence for a 1000MW coal fired plant. I will also suggest as desperate measures to build re-gasification plants away from the Niger Delta and buy LNG from Bonny plant rather than just export for forex or import LNG from anywhere else to supply gas to redundant power plant. The multiplier- effect on the economy will be more than earning foreign exchange |
| Re: God Bless Buhari! by Ovamboland(m): 7:45pm On Aug 13, 2016 |
