UNESCO Director General, Ms Irina Bokova met with H. E. President Muhammadu Buhari; Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed; Minister of Water Resources; Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof Abdalla Adamu; among others. She restated the commitment of UNESCO to complementing efforts of the government in ensuring quality education for Nigerians. 'UNESCO has relevance in 9 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)', she added.

It was a case of 'Culture meeting Culture' when the Director General of the UN cultural organisation, UNESCO, Ms Irina Bokova who is currently on a working visit to Nigeria met the Nobel Laureate, a literary and cultural icon, Prof Wole Soyinka in Abuja, Nigeria.
