9.81s was all it took the world fastest man to retain his olympic gold medal in 100m for the 3rd time.
Justin Gatlin came 2nd with 9.89s while Andre De Grasse of canada came 3rd with 9.91.
Yohan Blake who I tipped to beat Bolt came 4th.
This bolt is surley unbeatable!

Usain Bolt claimed a record third 100m title while tennis player Andy Murray won Britain's fifth Rio gold medal on GB's best day at an overseas Olympics.

A 15th gold of the Games, putting GB second in the table, followed gymnast Max Whitlock's historic double win and Justin Rose's golf victory.

Cyclist Jason Kenny defeated team-mate Callum Skinner for his fifth title.

Bolt, 29, ran 9.81 seconds to beat Justin Gatlin to gold and follow up his titles at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

The Jamaican remains on course for the sprint 'treble treble', with the 200m and the 4x100m relay to come.

"I expected to go faster, but I'm happy I won," he said. "I did what I had to."

South African Wayde van Niekerk broke Michael Johnson's 17-year-old world record by 0.15secs to win 400m gold in 43.03. The mark stood for 6,198 days.

Wimbledon champion Murray, 29, retained his Olympic title with an epic four-set win over Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.

the south african,van niekerk made my night...never thought anyone could break michael johnson's 400m record.

There are three precious records in athletics: 100m men and women and 400m men....unfortunately,one has been broken

I'm so happy gatlin didn't win. wonder what would happen if bolt had a good start but the horror of 2011 false starts at world championship still haunts him.... bravo the lightening bolt.

I actually like gatlin and doing it at 34 is quite commendable but the sport is at the lowest especially with the state-sponsored doping in russia, gatlin winning it will bring up debate about the steroids reacting again and it would have tainted the competition.

Am a super fan of bolt.. It's horrible that my countrymen didn' t even make the final in both women and men 100 meter race, even the much hyped Okagbare couldn't do it.
