Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has sent two U-23 players and 3 other ‘unofficially accredited’ officers with the Nigerian team back home from Brazil, Punch reports.

Two alternate players, Stanley Dimgba and goalkeeper Yusuf Mohammed, the team’s media officer, Timi Ebikagboro, curator and the team coordinator were sent packing from the games and flew out of Brazil to Nigeria on Monday night.

“We said they should send them back home if they could not take care of them (players and officials,” NFF spokesman said.

Dalung had complained of financial inadequacies in Brazil. According to him, 84 players and four officials – unofficially accredited persons had been with the team since they left Atlanta for Brazil.

“The organisers of the Games, the International Olympic Committee, are only responsible for 25 accredited players and officials including feeding, flights and accommodation. We have been carrying the rest along. In Manaus, we were forced to pay camp allowances to the extra four players making 29,” Dalung added.

the Nigerian sports minister is at it again....

it is a common practice world over for a football team to have back up players in the case of any unforeseen circumstance. which was the reason does players were taken to Brazil in the first place. or just imagine if we went with only 11 players and to here that Ogenekharo etebo is injured what would have been our fate.

and worse off the team’s media officer, Timi Ebikagboro, was also sent packing haba.
the truth some teams are not allowed to talk to the press as only the media officer does that to allow teams have full concentration.
but in our case the media officer was sent packing. while we have some other "officials" from the sports ministry still in brazil for jamboree

Just imagine this awkward statement made by this fullllll, how come we have 84 instead of 29.
