Unstable?

How old are you?

I think you need some lessons in history. Lemme help a bit.

While Awolowo preached true federalism and performed excellently when it was operational, "Zik of Africa" wanted "One Nigeria"...

"Earn what you work for". This is one of the reasons for this call for fiscal federalism. They are no longer comfortable with the idea of paying what some of other states are paying civil servants

but Osibanjo Yoruba first citizen said there is no need for true federalism

That's a lie. As AG for Lagos state he took the then FG to court several times in order to establish fiscal federalism. Fiscal federalism is control over income generated from local resources. You seem to be confused between federalism and confederalism. The south west has always championed federalism. It was the only zone to do so. In the confab the SE were asking for more states. Now they are asking for secession. Apart from the north and the southwest who have investment bodies for their entire region complete with harmonized economic strategies no other region is ready for fiscal federalism. Boundary disputes are still rife.

The rest is all noise making. No planning, no policies.

What do you mean by 'receiving end'?
The northern part will still edge the south politically & in terms of sharing formula.

You have only displayed your abysmal lack of comprehension or idiotic reasoning. You did not read where the Osun state governor complained about "the civil service constituting about 10% of the total population". Run along now

True federalism means that there is no 'sharing' to speak of and politically it won't make a big difference because the state governments will have greater power.

True federalism means an end to the system of the federal government requisitioning the proceeds of state resources and then 'sharing' with those who produce nothing.

True federalism will mean that the North will have to improve its economic output to survive, or starve.

The current system rewards stupidity and fecklessness.

Yorubas eeeh! After losing out on Buhari's appointment, they are now longing for restructuring. Osibanjo said Nigeria doesn't require restructuring now they he's saying otherwise.

Tinubu your plan of caving out won't work, let's sit back in Nigeria. They said Igbos wanted restructuring because they lost in the last election, why are you asking for same thing now?
Good morning Western Nigeria.

Proudly 5%
Its better late than never, I'm happy they have finally joined the SE & SS in demanding for restructuring that would usher in true fiscal federalism. Now that we have a consensus in the South, with the bombings, economic stagnation and suffering of the masses, the parasitic North will have no option than to accept that the era of "monkey dey work while baboon dey chop" is gone forever. Every individual, LGA & state must strive for itself and earn a living. Laziness doesnt pay & must be discouraged for peace & progress!!!!

Before 100% true federalism can come in place, its has to pass through the national assembly, did you think the northerners with their population in national assembly will allow it to scale through?

It's either they embrace reform or they continue to lag at the bottom of the global socio-economic pyramid.

And population pressure will force the northern criminal elite to do something because the current formula is not working for them.

Can Nigerians contribute to a forum without referencing yoruba this.. Afonja that.

Hate has eaten down the working part of the brain of some people, they can't even reason like a normal human being again.

This is a sensitive topic. This is long overdue.

This is the only way Nigeria can develop. Lagos and Ogun state are already stylishly playing this game. We should make it a reality.

Awolowo started it. though igbo were opposing it.

Tinubu and his political cronies are against it. It doesn't mean all Yoruba are opposing it.

Igbo were opposing it during Awolowo and now they are promoting.

No need to point finger to any tribe. We have all made that mistake. Afonja this, Uganda that.. This has to stop. For the sake of our future

VP Osibanjo, I beg you in the name of the God you serve, stop this blame game and focus on your job of change which you and your principal promised Nigerians. You were sworn in and saw the enormity of the corruption yet it took you 6mths to appoint "the noise makers" that you are now relying on to get the job done.

You strangulated an import dependent economy that was doing very well when you took over with a senseless forex policy that we are all suffering now. The Niger Delta issue would have bn better handled but for your 95% & 5% policy yet you have the guts to still point accusing fingers. America was in a worst state when Bush and Dick Cheney left but Obama came and turned it around in a few months.

One thing I know is that the job is only difficult in the absence of capacity. If indeed you guys know what to do, we won't be where we are. Show us what you are doing and stop blaming the past government. If we thought they were doing the right thing, we wouldn't have voted you. Focus on your change, please. Thank you.

Hmm this is because they have found oil in lagos o!

The Yorubas' quest for true federalism started in 1949 when Awolowo wrote his book titled thoughts on Nigerian constitution in which he argued that Nigeria is a mere geographical expression composed of peoples who are totally strange to one another, and that experimenting with unitary system in a multi-ethnic society like Nigeria would only bring about continuous violence, tribal wars, bloodshed, and all other features of instability. And that exactly is how it has been till today beginning from May 1966 when the military introduced unitary system into Nigeria against genuine national wish and interest.
Again, the yorubas, now joined by today's SS in the persons of Saro Wiwa, Rewane, etc. continued to clamour for restructuring by way of pressing for a Sovereign National Conference beginning from the time of Abacha in 1993. All these were far far before oil was struck in Lagos.
I am not Yoruba and I don't wish to be. But the undeniable fact remains that the SW has consistently been in the forefront of the agitation for true federalism and resource control even before my own SS region fully woke up to the realization of same. When, for the first time, the clamour for resource control fully found a co-ordinated voice among the SS governors during OBJ's time the only non-SS governor who joined them and attended their meetings was again from the SW (in the person of Tinubu). All the other 29 governors looked on as if they were victims of a deadly moronic plague.
It is instructive to note that unlike other parts of the country, the SW has continued pressing for restructuring even while their own son (Osibanjo) is in power sort of. This is much unlike the current North East Region which had their son, Atiku, 8 years in power occupying a similar position to Osinbajo's but they all kept quiet about restructuring. But ironically Atiku is now an "apostle" of restructuring after NDA threatened to cripple his business interests in the SS. The same attitude is with my own SS whose main actors forgot about resource control immediately GEJ our son rose to power. And in what could be described as the second greatest irony in Nigeria's history the GEJ, whose region needed restructuring most and whose brother; Saro Wiwa; died in the fight for same, came out and declared that he personally believed that Nigeria's problem starts and ends with corruption and has nothing to do with the structure. A PhD holder for that matter! It unfortunately took a duo of Nwabueze (an Igbo man) and Okurounmo (a Yoruba man) to mount pressure on GEJ to change his mind in favour of holding a confab towards restructuring. And that confab was eventually politicized by GEJ for time bidding. GEJ's opening speech at the inaugural meeting of the delegates made it clear that even though Okurounmu and Nwabweze succesfully forced him as a horse to the river of restructuring, he was still not ready to drink water.
