“The economic management team has indeed been considering several policy options and measures to urgently reform and revitalise the economy. Some of these measures may well require legislative amendments and presidential orders that will enable the executive arm of government move quickly in implementing the economic reform plans.1. Criminalize holding of FOREX by Nigerians 2. Setting up of Price Control Agency to force traders to sell at govt approved prices 3. Reducing BTA of intending travelers 4. Total restriction of Naira based Credit/Debit cards use abroad and on the net. 5. Redomination of the Naira to hide the zimbabwe like deflation of the Naira 6. Criminalizing tax defaulters 7. Increasing income Tax, VAT and also introducing Petrol Tax and that daft TV/Radio liscence on a national level 8. Making Tinubu's Alpha-Beta Tax collection company a national consultancy and agent of the FIRS These are the stupid things they want to introduce through legislation. He did it in 1984 and is set to repeat his foolishness again |

If Mr president was not afflicted by slow motion disease like a snail from day one, we wouldn't be in this mess by now. At the end of the day see the retardéd ministers he still appointed |

Izonpikin:I used to think you're possessed with some common sense thinking. Was it Buhari that stole all the money that should have been saved by the IB? Was it Buhari that made crude oil to now sell for $40 as opposed to above $100 per barrel during the Ineffectual Buffoon's reign? Was it Buhari that allowed corruption to eat so deep into our soul? Was it Buhari that wasted our earnings such that IB started borrowing to pay salaries even when oil sold far above the benchmark? Mister, Jonathan killed Nigerian economy. Take it or leave it. I don't have any apologies for saying it. |

It is a pitiable pisma-pismal, regretibly regreteous on how Buhari need or seek power. " I am for everybody but for nobody" he should rephrase that comment for a better naija. |
| Re: Economy: Buhari Not Seeking Emergency Powers- Presidency by Seahawk: 8:23am On Aug 23, 2016 |
Giving him such powers will be the end of Nigeria as we know it. Everyone better be prepared. Don't listen to his lies, he will grab such powers at the slightest chance. Then he will shut down the internet so no one will criticize him, appoint all his village men as ministers and key position holders then go ahead to give Fulani mafia free regain over all the lands in Nigeria. Nigerians better beware and say a resounding NO right now. He's a tyrant and dictator. |

Keep blaming the past administration. If buhari can't save Nigeria, he shouldn't have asked for it. Not going in there to commence blubbering like a pleb with adamant zombie followers supporting him all through his tyranny and foolishness. DropShot: |

Seahawk:Kiddo, the president's term is four years. No amount of wailing, teeth-gnashing, suicide attempt or real suicide and even bombing of pipelines will make him not spend the four years. Swerve ![]() |

Is this visit vital? to me, i do not think so. Is this visit good for friendly relationship between Nigeria and almighty USA, maybe to some people yes, but we have looked and we are looking East not West. the speech is not imperative now. He should reserve that counter terrorism speech for his home state that has seen terrorism and police shooting. Oh, if a police shoots an unarmed black man, maybe in his view hat can’t be likened as a terrorism, because the police is probably a white and a Christian. To me that is terrorism, because, the singular at of police killing a articular race, terrifies that community. As of religious tolerance, I don’t know how America has started this, we have seen Trump act an we have heard him peak about immigrant deportation. Forgetting that his forefathers are immigrants and they (immigrants) displaced the natives Indians to conservation and reservations. We have heard them say some anti Islamic speeches and talk down on Nigeria, especially by Trump. I wonder how that is tolerance? So, Kerry should first tender an apology to the swipe that presidential candidate took on Nigeria...https://etimesafrica./2016/08/23/john-kerry-is-his-visit-worth-the-noise/ |

kernel504:Comments like this makes me want to abuse people but I will control my adrenaline. Nigeria is Nigeria not USA or France. So, stop trying to draw comparison between countries that operate in totally different atmosphere. Nigeria needs an emergency economic solution not France or USA blueprint. |

Is the house even considering this? Giving Buhari of all people "extra power". So far he is misusing the one he has and is seeking for more. Buhari is just not fit for this job. He might be an honest man and has Nigeria well being at heart but he lack the knowledge to lead a country like Nigeria. Obama inherited a country in recession but managed it to being one of world economy cos he is educated and fit. Buhari can't help us even if he has all the powers in the world |

This bill should be rejected. Buhari is not a man of integrity and is too much of a dullard for this idea to work positively for Nigerians. |

lazeal:The economic fallout from the Ineffectual Buffoon's alleged numerous drunken fiesta contributed to him losing the ball on championing effective sustainable policies that should have provided adequate buffer to help us ride the predicted/known cyclical oil price swings lazeal:Jonathan recommended/employed Emefiele and no magician can get us out of this economic nightmare in the short term so shut it already |
