Nigerians are indeed very funny people. Especially my Kano people. On Sunday night, I was sitting with a guy who sell tea near my house before call for prayers. An elderly man came and said, "bani hadin Buhari - Give me Buhari's mixture" and without saying anything, the guy gave him tea and small bread and collected 50 Naira and gave 10 naira change. Nothing more said. I was baffled so I asked what that meant and the tea guy said hadin Buhari means tea without milk plus small bread. Again this morning, a friend came to visit me. I saw him off to his car and on my way back, I remembered I needed battery for my wireless mouse and stopped by a guy running a small kiosk nearby to get one. Just as I was walking away, a guy I met there said, "bani Buhari de Osinbajo - give me Buhari and Osinbajo". I immediately paused to see what he meant and again, without uttering a word, he gave him garri and groundnut. I returned back to ask again what that meant and he said Garri is Buhari, Osinbajo is groundnut while Bukola is sugar. Kano will always make a comedy out of every circumstance. So, this morning, I feel like having Buhari, Osinbajo and a little Bukola.

Godbless u so much...few years i go still recall it like yesterday i was in apeldoorn for 2weeks holiday and someone was using my card on shopping spree in prague..i had to abort my trip and storm my bank with my tickets and hotel bills ..ofcourse they only ask me to file for insurance claims.long story but i advice people to be careful using public connections..huh

Aside from that do you think the POS terminal transmits over unsecured network connection to the card processors? Master Card and VISA or AMEX won't even allow that in the first place. Come and try transactions online in Naija using unsecured connection with your card naaaa!

Imagine! Someone is busy arguing with me on network security and card transactions US has the most unsecured payment card system in the world. Nigerian payment cards are even more secured because of their PIN and Chip technology, it can hardly be cloned. Transmit your card details over unsecured WiFi network and someone picks up the details ...you're doomed!

This is 100 percent true . I went to Abeano supermarket when I saw the advert ( ya , they place a small advert saying that there is a free wifi here, the advert is all over in that area ) . so I quickly on my wifi . The signal was very strong , up to 90 percent , but my people I could not use to browse . It was not working . I was very disappointed .
Well I guess they most have ran out of data that day .

The people in Lekki may even not bother to use it cos it's a place of mostly upper class people who could afford it. They would have taken it to places like Ikorodu, ajegunle, Oshodi etc. They would appreciate it more. My thought

It's a business collaboration between private companies and has nothing to do with government. They probably have a business reason for that. Probably targeting them as clientele. With this kind of free WiFi, only light Internet use will be permitted so you can perform e-banking transactions.
