Rejoinder: Gov. Ugwuanyi is not sitting on the fence in the biggest foreign investment south of the Sahara – Enugu community

A Community in Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nchatancha, which owns part of the land where the proposed Enugu Industrial Park was located for development by the past administration in the state, has denied the media report in an online platform,www.nairaland.com, alleging that the present administration in the state was delaying the commencement of the project.
Reacting to the said report, a member of the committee for the development of the Industrial park, which is under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement between the state government and a Chinese company, known as Goad Mark Group, Pastor Nick Ugwu described the allegation as “false, mischievous and a failed calculated attempt to discredit the tireless efforts of the present
administration to kick start the project in spite of the harsh economic situation in the country.” Pastor Ugwu said that contrary to the allegation, the state government had completed the earthwork of the access road leading to the site to enable the Chinese company move in their equipment for commencement of work, which was part of the agreement reached towards the actualization of the
project. He added that the governor personally visited the host communities, as a sign of commitment, to appeal to them for understanding and cooperation, when they revolted against the actions taken by the past administration on the agreement reached with
them.He also disclosed that present administration re- negotiated with the communities and asked them to set up committees that would be meeting with the government and the company for the smooth kick off of the project.
The community representative equally expressed worries that the rains and some unresolved community disputes had hindered the completion of the access road to the proposed industrial park. He also stated that considering the present economic crisis in the country and tireless efforts so far madeby the present administration to provide access road to the site for investment, it was unfair and mischievous to peddle such false allegation in the media that the government was delaying the project.
Pastor Ugwu described the present government in the state as an investment-friendly administration, which had developed and implemented programmes and policies that centre on direct investment and strategic partnership with foreign investors, such as the recent
“Enugu State Investment Summit”, organized to woo investors to the state. He stressed that “there is no way the government could have wished away the socio-economic importance of the project in the state”, as was “mischievously” alleged in the publication.
“From the foregoing, I wish to state without fear of equivocation that the said publication is false, misleading and should be disregarded as it was the handiwork of desperate and mischievous elements, who have personal interest in the business and want to achieve it by all means,” Ugwu alleged.

But my problem with this poor response is, if our government can take loan to carry out white elephant projects, why can the state govt seek loan to finance this important project

My great concern about Government. Ugwuanyi is that he seems simply concerned about Nsukka and neglecting Enugu. One hopes he finds a way of developing Nsukka and Enugu simultaneously. If not he will create a Nigeria type situation in the politics of the state. Where vicious triball allegiances will be stronger than the general good of the state.

The rejoinder is simply hilarious, none of the issues i raised in the publication was responded to by Mr ugwu,i dare him to post photos from the road he claimed to be under construction and explain why the minor communal disputes were left unattended to if his principal wasn't sitting on the fence, its also worthy to point out that the project will be financed by the Chinese company and not enugu govt which their only stake in the project is to provide the land, something similar to the eko Atlantic project.

CBN rolls out N1 billion loan to rice farmers in Enugu

At least 5,000 farmers in Enugu State would benefit from a N1 billion Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) loan to the state for rice farmers. This is aimed at encouraging interested rice farmers in the state to go into full scale commercial rice farming.
Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor, who disclosed this in Enugu during the 2nd launching of the Enugu CBN’s Anchor Borrowers’ program, said the program was in conjunction with the Okunerere Farms Limited (the anchor), and the Enugu State Government.

Emefiele noted that CBN strongly believes that under the present economic situation, developing agricultural sector, and acting as a financial catalyst to the economy by targeting specific sectors that can create jobs on a mass scale, reduce poverty broadly, boost inclusive economic growth and conserve scarce foreign reserves in the country, would be a way out of the economic problem.

According to the CBN governor, “Nigeria’s food import bill is both exceptionally and unsustainably high; and that relying heavily on food importation fuels domestic inflation, depletes our foreign reserves, displaces local production and creates unemployment in the country.”
Represented by Charles Enwere, the apex bank boss pointed that the anchor borrowers program was designed to create economic linkages between farmers and processors; not only to ensure increased agricultural output of rice, but also close the gap between production and consumption by ramping up capacity utilization in our integrated mills.” he said.

“In Enugu State, we are targeting 5,000 farmers. We are looking at two anchors, the first was Tarra Agro Industries and the second one was Okunerere Farm Limited. Tarra has a target of 3,000 farmers, while Okunerere has 2,000 farmers. So our combined capacity for farmers is 5,000. That is what we are looking out for in Enugu State, the CBN boss said.

He added that “what we actually did was to cost the production of rice in Enugu State per hectare, and we came up with the total sum of N193,000 per hectare. So that is the amount we are going to give to each farmer.

He however, said they were not going to give to the farmers cash. The component of it is given to them as inputs, such as seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides and other important inputs to help boost agricultural outputs and productivity. Then the labour components would be paid in their account.

Flagging off the program, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, who was represented by his deputy, Cecilia Ezeilo said, his government would do anything within its reach to support farmers in the state for real diversification of the state economy.

According to him, the program would not only stimulate rice padi production in the state, but it would enable all rice processors in the state to get sufficient feed stock for their rice processing mills.

Governor Ugwuanyi noted that the beauty of the CBN anchor borrowers’ program was based on the fact that the farmers would not need to look for market to sell their rice padi, as the ‘off-takers,’ Okunerere Mills, Tara Agro Industries Limited and others with subsisting MoU’s with the state government would purchase all rice produced by the farmers.

He commended the initiative, and stated that when fully operational in two years, it is expected to drastically reduce food importation, diversify the country’s economy and create jobs for women and youths.
However, the regional manager, Bank of Agriculture (BoA) reminded the farmers that the money given to them was not a grant, but loans; and the Bank must collect back every kobo involved.

Enugu Housing embarks on building housing estate

The Enugu State Government said it has embarked on massive development of satellite towns in the state, with the aim of decongesting Enugu, the capital city. Enugu has remained a capital city for the mainly Igbo-speaking South Eastern Nigeria, for about 100 years since the advent of the colonial era.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who said the project was one of his campaign promises in 2015, said the project would create a better living and business environment for the state capital, which was the former administrative capital of old Eastern Regional government in the 1960s before the outbreak of the Civil War in 1967; and was capital of old East Central State and old Anambra State in 1967 and 1976.
The general manager of Enugu State Housing Corporation (ESHC), Chuks Agu told BusinessDay after signing a land agreement of over 50 hectares, located along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, between the state Housing Corporation and leaders of Amaukwu and Ozalla Aboh villages in Udi Local Government Area of the state, for the purpose of building housing estates.
Agu said the concept of embarking on the development of satellite towns was to decongest the Enugu township that is already filled up. “We want to have satellite towns. We want to develop the outskirts (of Enugu) to decongest the city center; and the only way out of it is to build more satellite towns around the city,” he said.
According to him, the Housing Corporation has entered into discussions with over 10 communities selected for the development of Satellite Towns around the capital city; and would sign the agreements with some of them. Some of the towns mapped out, he said, include Akegbe Ugwu, Aboh, Umuchigbo, Emene area, Ugwuaji, among others.

The Housing Corporation general manager said the housing estates would not only fasten the development of those communities, but would also create job opportunities, and enhance the economy and living standard of the people, through the establishment of small businesses in those places.
Speaking on how the civil servants and others would benefit from the housing estates, he said due to the high cost of building houses now, the corporation has entered into discussions with some mortgage institutions to see if they could assist the employees offset their bills, for them to pay over time.
“We are also making arrangement with associations and cooperatives to see if they can pull resources together and raise money to offset the bills and pay over time,” Agu said; adding that “as a Corporation, we need money to develop these houses too.”
On corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Housing Corporation GM said the housing estates would not only respect all the terms written on the agreement document, but would also do other social developments for the benefit of the people.
“I have very good relationship with all the communities we are developing estates in their areas, and I know their leaders and traditional rulers. We will also meet up with our corporate responsibilities,” he said.
The two communities were represented by their town union executives led by their two chairmen, Chijioke Mbah, the chairman of Amaukwu Development Union (ADU) and Everestus Udengwu, the chairman of Ozalla Aboh General Assembly, with some selected elders and youths of both communities, to endorse the agreement.

The two chairmen, who spoke to BusinessDay expressed happiness over the development, and promised to maintain the terms of the agreement. They however appealed to the state government to take the opportunity create a road from the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway to Aboh community for easy access to Enugu town.

The issue is not about Government but the people. Imo lost that investment because of youths stupidly misled by politicians into threatening investors. Our proximity to Rivers State has a lot of demerits. Look at Roche palm that was brought by Okorocha to manage Imo palms and they were frustrated out by youths courtesy of bitter politics but right now managing Rivers palms and doing very well in Rivers State very close to our own Ada palm.

I would love to inform the people of Enugu and all other stakeholders that the Enugu lifestyle and golf city is still in progress despite a slowdown. I will also like to inform all on the increased activity around the surrounding area. For example the doctors quarters; an estate on the road leading into the golf city, where over several dozen duplexes have already been erected. Also, just on the border of the lifestyle city is Hampstead Gardens; a modern estate being developed by Mizpah construction Nig. Ltd in partnership with Tralfalger leasing and IMT Micro finance bank.

Below is the current state of the estate, including landscape, ongoing projects, location and the 3D plan of a terraced building within the estate, set for completion within a year; which is in the market for sale.
contact Visionaryagency@gmail.com for official inquiries and more Information.

Do not miss out on this brilliant home, investment etc. Mortgage options also available.

FYI these things have been happening before Ugwuanyi emerged as Governor and will still happen when he leaves. THIS IS WHAT A RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT IS DOING.....

http://www.thetrentonline.com/ekiti-bill-grazing-ban/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday, August 25, 2016 passed a bill to ban free [nomadic] grazing in the state.

The bill also prescribed six months imprisonment without an option of fine for any offender of the bill that also ban movement of cattle after 6pm in the state.

The passage of the bill followed the submission of a report of its joint committees on agriculture and environment by its chairman, Ayodele Fajemilehin, to the House.

The speaker of the house, Kola Oluwawole, who presided over the plenary, said the bill would now reduce the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state.

If the bill is eventually accented to by the governor, it will now become a crime for any cattle, sheep and goat to graze on undesignated land for ranches in Ekiti.

According to the new bill tagged,” Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti, 2016″, anyone found violating the bill upon conviction shall be sentenced to six months in prison without the option of fine.

Others included, “The Governor shall by an order designates land in each of 16 Local Government Areas in the state in respect of which Cattle or Ruminants may be permitted to graze.

The rest are,” No person shall cause or permit any cow, oxen, sheep as well as goat under his or her control to graze on any land in which the Governor has not designated as ranches” among others.

“No cattle or other ruminants shall by any means move in the night, movement shall be between 7 a.m and 6p.m”

This is what i expect the government of Enugu to do instead of putting up a lame defence that i am playing politics

Herdsmen killings: Ex-General heads Enugu’s security committee By Emmanuel Uzodinma on September 6, 2016

Worried by the incessant attack on people of the Enugu State by herdsmen, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Tuesday, inaugurated a Security Committee.
