NDDC should have zero their senseless attacks on the useless NDDC that has Help no body and not the Pipelines, NDDC is a fat cow that has left ND the way it is today, that even drainage systems are lacking in most of its major cities resulting in Floods that turn buildings into Island when ever it rain heavily. |

I wonder where he pulled those figures from? And why anyone give that any money to the useless bushmen who make up the monarchy? Why do these places need a monarchy? Does the monarchy provide them with security? Do they provide any services? What is their purpose? |

abokibuhari:Oil discovery didn't just happen. They spent money doing so. The money spent was from groundnut and cocoa. |

9jatatafo: He told the monarchs who visited him in Abuja that he (the minister) went round the creeks and found no infrastructure that reflects the money disbursed to the region through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) or the 13 per cent derivation from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC). The Sources of his stats are stated clearly in the article. |

Quakertellicus1: It is very easy for our Niger Delta leaders to shift the blame of their incompetence. Just tell the Niger Delta people that the North Controls the Oil. |

amtalkin:The article specifically said that $40bn was spent on the Niger Delta It did not say that $40bn was given to the North to spend on the Niger Delta's behalf. The North was still dependent on groundnut etc till 1980....when we Nigerians all went fully dependent on oil. While the North too is a mess....I know it well, having lived there....this article is not about how much oyel money was spent on the North. |

While the problems facing the Niger Delta areas are multi-faceted, the opening of the Maritime University might just be the first step in a long journey towards getting the region back to stability and economic progression. The same Petroleum minister of state had shown his interest in making sure the institution becomes functional in the past, so I want to believe it's a matter of 'when' not 'if'. |

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu yesterday told Niger Delta Coastal State monarchs and stakeholders that there was no infrastructure in the creek to show for the $40 billion released to the Niger Delta in the last 10 years.High time someone told these people the home truth! There goes your source of "marginalisation". I have always insisted that "true federalism" isn't Nigeria's problem, crooks in positions of authority are. |

That's why we are calling for restructuring. Then you can hold them responsible for their plight. But as long as you take away their resources and give certain groups money, no matter how huge, it will be seen as national cake, government money, free money and so corruption continues. But when the people know that they are responsible for their own fate, there will be accountability; they will hold their own leaders accountable. I know I am not saying something that even those strongly opposed to restructuring don't know already. All na politics ... but there is a day of reckoning coming soon for our country where all selfishness an greed will be repaid in full. Romans 6:23 The payment for sin is death, but the gift that God freely gives is everlasting life found in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

$40 billion down the drain, the traditional rulers in the region should be blamed cos they conspire with corrupt politician to plunder the region.and for the avengers I think they should embrace peace cos all their activities are detrimental to the region. |
