I'll suggest you ask people here what values has political parties brought to them, their comunities and the country, that should give you some of the answers you are after.

political parties nominate candidates for election.
They sensitize members on various govt policies and programmes.
They educate people on political participations.
They act as critics to the ruling party which is very significant to strengthening of democracy e.g. what Fayose is doing to APC led federal govt.

They assists in drawing manifestoes for govt which forms d basis for govt policy

They act as agents and observers during elections.
