Pls mama's help. My lo's poo has something that used to draw like catarrh and reddish colour around her anus. Pls what do I do.

Red is blood o. Unless you gave her something red to eat and it was undigested, red is blood. And blood is seen when the poop is hard and bumbum tears. But if her poop is soft and you're seeing blood, please take her diaper and the poop to a hospital asap. They will test it. They just need a sample from the day you go to the hospital.

50 books is quite a lot and most people may not have space. Just a thought. Why not put up pictures of your books here so that mamas who are not Facebook users can see and access.

Due to price range of Books costing a unit price of 500 to 1500 the unit price of 50at a go is quiet commendable to both parties. Two member of this group chaulay1 and Jumoke Varosimo has purchased and have been highly satisfied by the brands... please lets whartsarp 09032730510

Yes that's when I rubbed him. Now after bathing him I try to always put on his nose (sometimes I forget).

Prettyhurts, I've read a bit about your situation on Babycenter so maybe look there. I think you have to go to doctor.

I asked the Jehovah Witness people always knocking at my door to bring me My Book of Bible Stories. I enjoyed reading it as a child plus their books are free, they'll only take 'voluntary donation'.

It's not like that, when I knew them I was too young to form "I am busy". The last time I saw any Jehovah's witness I was a teenager....which was like 3 years ago (cough). grin

I don't know if they organised a conference at National Arts Theatre years ago, I met a lot there (though I think maybe it was Eckankar, I can't remember). I think I have 2 Jehovah's witness churches, Yaba and Festac. I'm not sure but the places always looked very serene.

Yeah, those stains. You can do a 20 mins cold bleach soak after they have been washed, once a month and dry them facing the sun. Stains should be gone. We use our diapers daily, from morning till night, then use a disposable at night (though sometimes I end up changing her to a cloth diaper at around 2am/3am). That is just because Himself can't change a cloth diaper. That way, a pack of 34 diapers can last us a month easily (since we only use one at night most nights). The trick is to get enough diapers so you don't wash daily. Keep those flannel and use them as wipes, I love my flannel wipes and you won't regret them. I first wondered if cloth diapers saved money in Nigeria (since diapers were so cheap here) but with what I've experienced I believe more strongly that they do. Because we would have been forced to buy the U.S. Huggies or Pampers in cartons (the local ones made her scratch her skin off till she bled or would always leak nightly). I pray we survive our change era.

Hello, it's been a while. Where are you located, dear?

In Lagos, I saw locally made cloth diaper for like N900 apiece. They sell cloth diapers online for N1500 to N3500 apiece. But I will write down the details for making cloth wipes now. They still sell old-school nappies in the market, so if you can get one and I can put your through it.

How to Make Clothe Wipes

MATERIALS

flannel blanket N600
Thin towel (a thin one will dry faster, as thin as baby washcloth) N150
Scissors
Needle
Thread
Carton

HOW-TO

1. From the carton, either measure out any size you want for the wipe size. I put my hand on the carton and free cut a square that will cover it. Use freehand or use a ruler. Cut it out. This will serve as your pattern.

2. Put that carton pattern on top of the flannel blanket and the thin towel and cut it out.

3. Sew it together either using blanket stitch at the edge (I checked YouTube and saw it so I can't really describe it) or take it to a tailor and ask them to sew the edges for you with the machine they use to whip edges of fabric like chiffon. So it doesn't unravel.

These wipes should easily last you over a year (we are still using mine and I see them being good for 2 kids), max is that the flannel side will fade from constant washing. You can start using them from when baby is born instead of using cotton. We discussed earlier why some of us started using cloth wipes so please take a look.

You can easily with the tailor's help make 30 wipes in a day. I'm not a good tailor (I just started using a needle and thread last year) so hopefully other mamas with sewing experience can chip in.

HOW TO USE

simply pour it dip into water. If you are have money, you can make diaper wipe solution from oils and soap but a few drops of Baby wash and coconut oil in water is enough to keep the bum clean. Store either in a nylon bag or we can do tutorial on sewing a diaper bag, until ready to wash and reuse. Wash it the same way you wash laundry (rinse it very well so no soap residue remains, need to boil and drying it under the hot sun helps kill a lot of bad germs and bacteria). Once a month or week you can soak it in bleach after washing, rinse and hang to dry.

C.c rofemiguwa, stadora, any other interested mums. This is super affordable and even if you pay a tailor N1000 for his work, you are spending less than N2000 on wipes for over a year.

For mums who want to form Mummy-And-Me groups, Alphahandmaiden's suggestions about the books are a good idea. 5 people can split the cost of buying 50 books (that's about N3000 per person) and be exchanging and reading together at your Mummy group. There are no libraries around like before so Community outreach is all we can do to help ourselves.

So, here is my attempt!
Zips; N10 apiece
Carton: free
White carpenter glue: I had some at home but a small cup should be N250. You won't use up to 1/10th.

So far, she has tried and grabbed one zip once, correctly. I can see she's using Pincer grip (forefinger and thumb) which is what doctors ask you to make sure baby does by trying to feed themselves with finger food.

I may be able to do a tutorial on making your own fitted cloth diapers out of terry fabric ( towel material) and elastic with or withour velcro.

If there are any more people interested let me know and i will see how soon i can do one.

Note: you will have to get a seperate waterproof wrap to go over it.

How old is the pikin? Depending on his age, his poop may be too hard for him (younger than 6 months shouldn't be straining). Other sabi mamas, over to you.

Yeeeshhh! Sebamed is supposed to be pH-balanced and pretty perfect. Dermatologists recommend it. However, in Nigeria only one company has the distribution rights for Sebamed and it's direct from Germany. So if your bottle of Sebamed has Arabic written on it, maybe the seller got it from Dubai. And whilst that doesn't make it fake, Nigerian factor could have come in and maybe the seller (in order to maximise profits), cut it with another cheaper product. Stop the Sebamed and switch to Dove Pure and Sensitive soap (use the search function, there are pictures posted and places where to find it plus prices). Also, did you change anything else in the kids (any fever or symptoms)?

If the pooh is soft and not hard then it's normal. Some babies make some grunting sound when they are pooing, but he shouldn't be in distress.

Okay, check in a few days' time. It might just be the water. Also, get Dove Pure and Sensitive, N590 for 2 bars versus N3000 for a bottle of Sebamed. Both are dermatologist recommended. And cook that soup.
